That troublesome is much less evil, than many wanna treat Sentosa as racetrack, and many more, without licence & bike insurance, see sentosa road as playground.

Anyway, most staff have bus shuttle service. So what is the problem? Unless the guy who works there don't he is working in Sentosa.

But to ' Racer ', everywhere is a race track.

Regardless of long stretch of road or numerous corner.

Is all about their mindset..

I did applied for a part time job in IR.

Coming to think of it its a bit troublesome not having bikes in for staff.

Once reached need to find place to park, walk over to take shuttle bus.

If i were to be slightly late, there goes the shuttle bus.

Yeah~! Joins the petition. Last time I didn't know about the rule that bikes cnanot go into Sentosa. Was intending like feeling down can go to the beach there to just relax. Then ... CANNOT go in with bike ... sigh. East Coast Park is not the same feeling lah. Too many joggers.

If you think that making petition, here or facebook, will make Sentosa open their doors to Bikers, think again.

Sentosa has reply, but surprisingly, it is not produced here.

Or no one read newspaper??? Or we miss articles? Or because of censorship?

Like it or not, Sentosa will maintain their position on bikers, and many bikers here support the ban too.

After all, Sentosa has learned much from Vivo bad experience of letting bikers park within. To let bikers in is open wide for fatal accidens to happen, putting our Singapore in bad light, and jobs lose thereafter.

I don't expect Sentosa reply will change bikers' mind, especially those wanna to ride in. It is up to individual to see if it worth the time & energy.

Why Motorcycles are not allowed on Sentosa?

I REFER to Ms Tracy Tan's letter on Thursday, "A ban on motorcycles seems uncalled for". Sentosa's longstanding policy of not allowing guests to ride their motorcycles on the island is centred on safety.

Sentosa's roads are relatively narrow and winding and flanked by tress, They are also often single line in each direction and this creates blind spot for drivers. Due to their small size, motorcycles are usually more vulnerable to accidents on such roads, especially when weather conditions are poor.

Motorcycles tend to pick up speed faster than other vehicles. Given the island speed limit of 40Kmh, speeding vehicles could pose a danger to guests walking along or crossing the roads.

Motorcycles can also be earily manoeuvred into areas such as pedestrian pavements and buggy tracks where other vehicles cannot gain access, and compromise pedestrian safety.

There are some exceptions to the No Motorcycles rule. They include Sentosa's island rangers carrying out their duties, emergency and essential services and dispatch riders delivering documents and packages to our island partners and Sentosa Cove residents.

Several Sentosa Cove residents also own motorcycles. However, they are allowed to ride only bewteen mainland Singapore and their homes via the Sentosa causeway bridge.

But why are we not allowed into the IR carpark? Entrance is before the Sentosa gate so no one can go further. If you are worried about investment cost for the carpark then charge the bikes like cars. 3 car spaces can park about 10 bikes so charge a bike 3/10 of the car fee. No loss.

Same applies for many shopping malls in town.

Bikers have often proven that we are much smarter than driver, in inventing new roads & new car park lots. Once you give them the car park, they want the whole Sentosa, and more...

If you are security officer at Sentosa, will you welcome bikers to play hide & seek???

I share the anger and frustration of many bikers in this forum regarding the ban of motorcycles on Sentosa.

Irritates me to hell, but somehow, I guess its hard to get them to change this rule, unless we can get some high-profile / influential ppl to support. Probably some angmoh CEO rider who is not a Sentosa Cove resident, some MP, or wait till election is coming again, etc?

Or else not, worst case, we raise funds among the biking community to buy a full page ad in the Straits Times to make sure everyone hears our voice?

Hmm....

:sian:

From Honda's manual:

The motorcycle presents you a challenge to master the machine, a challenge to adventure. You ride through the wind, linked to the road by a vehicle that responds to your commands as no other does...

Guys, I work in Sentosa and being a rider myself, I think its better that they keep the BAN on motorcycles from entering Sentosa. I know many of us are responsible riders, we know the meaning of riding safely however they are as many or even twice the number of riders which are irresponsible. they will create an unsafe environment in sentosa especially now we are having so many tourist.accidents are much more prompt to happen.

that is very logical...

this way at least it becomes more inclusive

Hey guys, I work in Sentosa too! Actually the main reason is to have a peaceful environment in Sentosa. They want Sentosa to be like quiet quiet like that, cos motorbikes are generally abit noisier. They are alot of people works in Sentosa rides a bike too. Imagine all ride bike in, gonna create quite some attention.

I dont agree..cos many are discipline riders and they will park as proposed but twice and many more ill discipline riders will stray away and the rangers have to hunt for them.
