Good choice. There are a few choices actually. The best money, petroleum company. Others include PORT firefighters, as well as airport firefighters. you can even work for some big factories as a secondary appointment.

for the main part, you can consider SCDF. I think you can hardly find any job that works 10 days a month and getting the thrills of turning out to emergencies. For ITE Grad, you start as a corporal but your acting rank is a SGT. As with all services, you must prove yourself to be good to get promoted.

Your best path would be to sign up for upgrading while in the fire station. Without a diploma, you will hardly get promoted. Then if you are super fit, you can join the DART, allowance additional 650. Think about it. If you have 2A, you prob want to become firebikers right? anyway, in the emergency response line, your life is other people's life. you standby to save people, so don't be calculative about the time off, you will prob do well.

you will joined as an ERS (emergency rescue specialist) and thru-out the training, you will be fitted with informations like firefighting, rescue, fire investigation (new batch will include this module), medical stuff etc.

your training will last for 6 months and during this 6 mths of training, you are required to stay-in and get to book out during weekends.

in camp, there're swimming pool, gym for your usuage and also life is pretty relaxing after fire-fighting training weeks (11 weeks) and a lil tougher when it comes to the end but after your training, you will be promoted to section commander in fire station and life in station is good but as a sect comd, you will have higher responsibility but still, station life is very relaxing..

morning go camp, do drills for a few hours then afternoon lunch then play games/pt and at night go lectures (sometimes no lecture) and then sleep lo hahaha.. if you kena stations that seldom have fire calls, then very relax, can sleep long long but if you kena stations like central then have to standby la haha..

If u're patience in one moment of anger, u will avoid 100 days of sorrow.

ALso, i heard that u can't specifically sign on fireman but sign on CD and it's up to them whether they want to post u to fire division or not. If u suay, u might kena paramedic team.

Life as NSF firefighter quite easy lor.How i know?Cos i'm an ERS regular for 5 years now.For Regulars,be prepared to have ur off days burnt.Never belief that u ONLY work 10 days.First 2 years,i found it quite tough, having to come back on off days.("peak period" can be up to 5 to 8 off days in the month). But now nearing 5 years,i grew accustomed to it.But also depends on yr secondary appts in the fire station.higher appts, more off days burnt and higher responsibilities. But when Performance Bonus are given out,u get wat u deserve.Maybe that's why i seldom complain.

U choose ur path.As a Fire & Rescue specialist or paramedic. Both are ERS.But to join as Paramedic, its best to have a nursing background or qualifications.

the scdf recruitment is quite unefficient...as they will only call you...

they don't post letters or emails...if u miss their calls, either u call them back or wait for their call again..

best is to call the recruitment office for enquiry...

one of the requirements is the eyesight...important especially for Fire Rescue Specialist but not so sure for Paramedic...

but then again there are some with eyesight above 500 degree but still manage to go through the course.....so it depends...

as long as u can see w/o glasses at certain instances...

"The road less travelled"

DISABLE AND RETARDED TEAM????? :faint: :faint: :faint:

Not very funny dude. For all the psychotic characters that are in the DART team, the basic point is they have saved many lives, and will continue to save many more lives. Much of their hard work you will not read about in the papers.
