hey guys. got a bit of problem maybe if anyone can tell me what can be the cause and solution or is it normal.

 

irregular Idling

whenever i start the bike, the idling seem fine, maybe 1k - 1.5k from the sound as my rpm meter is not really working.. after warm up, and started to ride? at certain point of time when i am stationary, ie stop are traffic junction etc. i notice that the idling (when clutch pull in or on neutral) the idling which i saw from the meter and the sound of engine, either too high (around 2.1K) or too low (lower than 1K sound like going to stall) then before warm up (which is around 1k or 1.5k). any cause and solution for this?

 

can't feel engine brake

also i notice when i drop from gear 6 to gear 3/4, there seem like there aren't much engine brake.. any cause or solution for this? i heard adjust the idling helps. but since i have the the above mention problem.. does adjust idling make thing worse??

 

Carb Tuning

also i have spoken to a bro in the sbf who seen my bike before, mention that i might need to tune/adjust my carb. what is the benefit for doing so?? how does it help in my overall experience?

 

any idea how much will a 2nd hand speedo + installaton from planet cost ?

 

actually i suggest that u go to a bikeshop that u are familiar with..then get the mechanic to do a full check for ur bike..coz seems like ur bike is having quite a bit of problems..either that or u can go down to planet motors and asked ah chong to check out ur bike for u...he's very experienced with this bike..somemore he won't scam u to change stuffs that u don't need to change

i will pop by after i send the bike back to republic motor. they will be helping me to do the carb tuning.. my idling seem to be fixed after the mech help me to tune down the idling.. will try out more tml, especially from cold start if it improvement my overall riding experience. didn't do the carb tuning today coz the mech say he need 1 -2 day to do this bike. he too say this bike need to recalibrate the carb. maybe can go collect on friday then fly down to Planet to check out the price of speedo too?

as i've said, actually you shld tune rpm only when its fully warm up or after you go somewhere when its rpm go till 2.1k like you said, tune it to 1k. then when you cold start you bike, it'll be ard 500+rpm. if dont knw where to tune, ask the mech. you mean they nvr tune your carb when you pushed the bike back?? cos if your carb not properly tune, your bike will like no power, too power. haha. cos petrol flow not same. do you understand??

service and syn ur carbies, take the chance to replace worn parts in em?

i think the previous owner juz don't care obut those problems..then when the problems become more and more..he push to bike shop lo..haha

anyway...ur rpm meter not moving might not be ur speedometer's fault...might be juz the rpm cable..so i think u can do a check

hey ben, the meter is moving.. but irregular lo.. i think once it hit 4k and above it start to be MJ doing moonwalking. LOL.. flicking up and down lo. so i don't think is the cable problem. i might be wrong la.

Ah Boon from republic Motor comment say GSXR Carb more complicate? need to tune a bit long to get it right. My friend S4 ah Boon say only need 2hours.. guess depend on bike ba.

anyway...rpm meter above certain RPM then fluctuate..might be cable problem also..last time my friend's bike...speedo meter up till 100 will start fluctuating...ended up is the speedo cable connector problem..so i think u should start by fixing the cheapest unless u are very sure is the speedo's problem

so many times, took so long yet problem not resolved?

consider getting urself over to another trustworthy mech and get things sorted?
