mech always tell me that g4 has this common carb problems. Guess old bikes usually have it own faults. Juz like honda, it's always the common rectifier and coil problem. That's a fact which lao jiao honda riders would know. Juz take note of the forks, rear shock, rims if there's any dent, electrical wirings, engine wise hard to tell except for the abnormalites sound it made which I dunno how to explain exactly. Other than that should be wear and tear issues like tires chain and sprockets etc.

Previous owner retained the plate, bike was originally registered in 1995. Should have been FM plate

dam my fork is soft lucky rear sup is ok...

Front forks like ferrous said shange oil seal and oil and spring.. but he didnt tell u the price. oil and seal cost abt 180. spring.. haha another 200 min if i didnt remember wrongly.

Another way to counter the aged apring. set more preload. adjust the sus to go lower. thiis will tension the spring more so its harder but ur bike will be lower and the stroke is shorter lah.. :goodluck:

I heard G4 always spoilt is it?

Wats the common problems? :weep:

How's the mileage?

Personally, I think any bike also can travell ~200km on a tank of petrol. Maybe Japs design it this way?

Fierygix, maybe u can post a bit on the description of this thread.. post the info on G4? (just my suggestion..) :cheeky:

the search function on SBF isn't exactly that useful. and to go through 400 odd pages of this thread would be a mammoth task. not that i'm trying to be lazy or anything but there is simply too many offtopic discussions and it makes it tiring to read through.

hey bro, he nv mention anything abt spring. Dun scare ppl leh, changing of fork seals and oil is ard 60 to 90+. Fork oil and the seals cost how much only? It's becoz of the hectic process. Unless u opting for bikelab professional services which coz more than 100....

sit on it and test the suspension, try going over humps etc. tt's the only way i guess. If rear sup is gone or tension is gone there's no way liao mah as discussed earlier. Since ithe shock cannot be open up to rebuild or to refill the gas.

S4 is a road bike and hence have more torque down the RPM range. Maybe initial pick up is good. G4 is a race replica. Design for sports riding where the engine RPM is usually high. So Suzuki design this bike and placed its powerband at 8000 RPM and above.

Initial pick up, S4 may win but in a roll-on throttle, once G4 RPM range goes into 5 figure.. the bike will shoot all the way to 210- 220 Km/hr depending on gearing and engine condition. While the S4 maybe max out at 190km/hr

So you are comparing a bike with more power at low end and a bike with more power at high end.

my mech tell me valve clearnance no need do 1 leh ..

btw u tml no sch ar power sia...

I really doubt your mech creditability, when he says valve clearance no need to do?

If you chose to believe your mech, maybe one day when there is no more clearance on the the valves, you will risk having burnt or bent valve, then you gona pay your mech thousands of dollar to overhaul the engine.

G4 is 10-12 y/o, you won't know how the previous owner rode the bike, and spending $100 over to ensure the correct valve clearance will save you the trouble and $$ for overhaul in future, I think its worth it.

s750wp the old 1 i intend to fix it back......hmnn u know how to ????

I already posted the details how you can repair the CDI, I have repaired one before but it didn;t work, which mean other component on the electronic board has failed and not due to the capacitors and transistors.

The kokusan chip, the brain of the CDI, is not replaceable because SLT don't sell this part.
