Well if i were u, i'll sniff the smoke. If its a strong petroleum smell probebly its the petrol la...if it smells like burned smell den shld be ur wires...or if it smells like steam den shld be rainwater or ur coolant.

CR8EK i think $8. Denso is U24ETR. All normal ranges.

LAB i bought from them before $60 a box of NGK irdium plug.

A box is 4 plugs n they r the cold plug cr9ek

chk your fuse.

if your rpm meter also nv works, cfm fuse blown..

Naz, u can want to try denso plugs. i rem it's soemthing like utre8p or wat. $5/= per plug only. 4 plugs = $20. Currently, i'm using for 1/2 yr already. so far it's working fine for me.

 

Anyone interested to get a bot of 800ml maxima extra fully syn EO? letting go @ $12 instead. bought 4 bottles @ 18each and got this extra bot to top up the 200ml as i changed oil filter at that time.

My plugs kept fouling even after I tune the carbs. So looking for cheaper alternatives..

sorry, it's 5.50 per plug @ the shop beside fjt. both shops r under the same boss anyway.

so i bought 22 for 4 plugs...:smile:

 

if your plugs keep fouling, i guess u better take out the plugs and chk the condition of the fouled plugs. i rem when i juz got my bike, my plugs kept fouling as well. within 1 mth 3 plugs koyak. went back bang table and got 3 plugs changed and the mech helped me to tune the idling knot. things got better a bit.

Mine keeps fouling too.. if I ride it everyday, it isn't a problem.. but once I stop riding for 2 or 3 days.. that's it!!! Sigh.

 

Anyone care to organise a um.. How to change your plugs? .. session? Haha.. haiz..

 

PS. what has idling got to do with plugs fouling? hmm sorry if the question sounds stupid.. x.x

stardust: my technical knowledge is not very good, so i try very hard to related some of the problems which i'd experienced before. your case will be that something could be overflow when u park for these 2 to 3 days and wetted the tip of the plug when u start again the plugs could not get ignited. haf u chk the tip of the plugs to chk whether is it filled with carbon or it is wet?

 

tweaking the air/fuel mixture or the idling knob is juz one of the possibilities that my plugs did not get anymore fouling is wat my mech had did when i complt to him my plugs keep fouling so he some tweaking on the idling or dunno the air/fuel mixture knob. however there could be other issues. hope the rest can provide somemore input to this.

top speed tried (according to my meter)-205 to 210km/h (can go more but dun dare)

 

things done to the bike when owning her for 8 months:

 

-clutch plates

-clutch cable

-tyres (front n back)

-carb tuning (@bikeworkz)

-carb wash (@bikeworkz)

-engine overhaul (@bikeworkz when meet up, pictures can be shown as overhaul evidence when meet)

-left side mirror (bike was pushed over by some drunk ppl. minor scratch marks other than that, no accidents.)

-original air fliter

-back brakepads

-front wheel bearing

-LED bulbs under pillion seat (colour red)

 

other additions the bike had been done n b/f by past owner rode 2yrs (no accidents):

 

-petrol fliter

-ABS (front)

-exhaust slightly modded but inspection pass.

-additional helmet lock (below pillion footrest to exhaust)

 

normal maintainence

 

-spark plugs (ngk iridium)

-engine oil (esso gold 4t fully syn)

-oil filter

-petrol (F1 synergy)

-duplicated set of 3 keys (main switch, backseat & lock, additional lock)

 

as i am giving up riding, letting go also:

 

-Mfizz half face helmet (no accidents)

-Mfizz full rain coat (as gd as new)

-bike cover (good condition, sprayed on wif bike's number plate)

 

 

asking price, selling with the number plate.number "70" is :

 

$3000 (full cash)

What Addictive said is true.

 

My 2 cents is, our bikes are old. Definitely. The piston rings had worn out pretty bad by now, so engine oil gets transferred into the cylinder head and this in turns foul your plugs cos they won't burn that easily and ur sparks would have long given up life.

 

Alternative is to change ur piston rings. But that's gonna set you back big time if you're saving up for that Class 2 dream.

 

Hence, cheaper alternative is, do not warm up your bike. Key in, ride off. Just make sure u don't whack it above 4K rpm for a start. This shall at least try to dissipate away those engine oil thats wetting your plugs. Not really a fool proof way but it does help to lengthen ur plugs life. Eventually though, you'd still have to change your plugs cos this measure is just preventive, not corrective.

 

And that's why that is my next modus operandi, changing plugs myself cos most bikeshops sparkplugs do not cost any lower than 10 bucks. :hungry:

if eo do get into plugs, it's a serious problem. should get it fixed asap. coz 4 stroke eo do not do lubrication of pistons at all. u will be seeing lotsa black smoke coming out from exhaust if engine oil sip into combustion chamber/block.

well i have a simple solution for e/o flowing into plug slots. well i did came across this product from STP it states that it can seal up minor leaking inside the engine... its some kind of vicious sealant which u pour into the e/o topup hole. well might or might not work...but its worth the try.
