hmm, while i think the g4 is a good bike, since you already have a cbr, doesn't really make economical sense to switch. they're largely similar, with the exception of handling, which comes at a price.

From looking, i can see the riding posture is rather agressive.

I think ill love it!

amanda: damn right it is, just make sure you have a strong back, haha.

just to share..

i think a lot of people are drawn to the L model because of the japanese restrictions which kicked in after that period.

for the gixxers and cbrs of that period, the models before the restrictions were 59bhp machines, and after the change in policy, they were restricted to 53bhp.

now i wonder if anyone noticed that as our bikes get older, the power output decreases? i'm pretty certain that if we dyno our g4's, the output will be nowhere close to 53 horses, or 59 for the older ones.

in fact, there's a slingshot on sale in the forums, and even after his complete engine overhaul, his dyno results showed only 55 horses on the real wheel, iirc. (FH plate)

i'm not sure if there are any other differences between the L model and the later ones, but if the only difference is this one, i would advise anyone to take the claim of additional power with a pinch of salt, and further suggest to him/her that it would probably be a wiser choice to get the newest one possible. i'm sure we all know what nightmares old bikes can bring =P

oh, and please do correct me if any of my claims are in error

Hi, I would like to add on.

For me the riding posture is just right. But have to maintain a straight back, if I do hunch while riding over long distances, it will hurt a bit.

Need a bit of stamina to handle corners.

Note: This are my experiences, it may not be the same for the rest. Hope it is useful.

Agree with you on the power output thing. Old bike already. But still can run strong... Not to say, it still looks good...

ex g4 rider can?

sat would be good for me, other half away for the weekend, haha.

Hi Mervyn, doesnt matter what bike you ride. Seeing you're an ex-G4 rider. Maybe you'll have some experience to share with us. Maybe tips that we dun know about. I havent been to the dam in sometime. Hopefully got G4 riders who wanna head down and meet up this friday night... G4's are hardly seen nor heard at the dam...

i think riding posture depends on your height...

You're absolutely right. I'm around 1.8m tall. The shorter you are, more strain will be at your back. I'm not saying g4 are suitable for short people. Don't get me wrong. ;)
