Price of the o-rings confirm much cheaper.

I changed 4 x o-rings at racewerks, costed me $18!

What? S$18 for 4 O-rings? Hmmm oh well but den again I might have seen the Viton O-rings before in a hardware store but I forgot where the location.

Hmmm was thinking of going to Planet to have my bike checked. Just to check anyone of you face this problem with your G4? I not sure whether I posted this problem before.

I was out riding with my frens and we are at the traffic light. There was this souped up Tuscani beside us so we decided to have a lil "drag race" with this Tuscani! (Do not attempt to do this when the traffic in front is clear unless ur riding a 1000cc bike :cheeky:)

So anyway when the traffic light turned green I hi-rev my bike hard. In third gear my bike speedo read between 120km/h-130km/h. However the needle had a hard time going up to 140km/h as the bike started to have a pull-back jerky feeling. Seems that the either the petrol is not flowing in smoothly or there is an incomplete combustion. Anyone faced the same problem? My friend who rode a G4 before told me to "service" my bike's carbs. Change the main jet and pin jet as well as do a thorough wash and tune of my bike's carbs.

Anyone willing to give a 2-cent opinion?

First-Ever Cross Threads Outing

Introduction:

It had always been a practice in sbf for each thread to organise their own outings and gatherings.

And it hit upon me that instead of keeping to one thread/one make of bike, why not widen our circles and meet riders of similar interest?

As a first attempt to organise a cross-threads outing, we are inviting riders of all make, types, classes of bikes, with the link posted in krr150, nsr150sp/rr, tzm150, cbr150, babymitto, rs125, r125, nsr250, rs250, babyblade, rvf400, gsxr400, zx4, m2b threads; covering most 2b/a sportsbikes.

Main objective of this gathering/outing is for riders of different threads to meet each other, widening friendships, and have fun! =)

Althought link is posted only in above mentioned threads, feel free to invite friends who are riding other bikes as well.

Once again emphasizing this is an open-to-all-bikes event.

Event:

Event: Cross-Threads Outing

Date: 18th April 2009

Time: 2200 HRS onwards

Venue: TBA

Duration: 2-4 Hours (free to go/join at any point of time)

Destinations:

From past experiences, we decided to keep exact locations unknown to all first.

Activities would be late dinner/supper, followed by riding to a nice scenic popular hangout for couples, before punching card at that well know place for engines.

It will be on a saturday's night, and we will be expecting quite a big turn-up. Thus all hot-spots would be avoided, in our routes and destinations. Time on hot-roads will be minimized. Special parking place will be allocated. To minimize risk, card-punching would be the last destination; as late as possible.

INTERESTED PARTIES KINDLY ADD NAME INTO LIST HERE

What was the rpm then? I think you have the same problem with me, the rpm had a hard time going from 5k-8k. It was then I went to service my carb, and got the o-ring changed.

After that, the pulling is hard all the way till red line.

Life is good.

yup. i think your best bet to this prob is

1) servicing your carbs.

2) tuning ur carbs.

3) check ur airfilter. replace if needed.

Have you done it before?

Well after this ur petrol consumption shld drop as well. Thats if ur AFR is tuned nicely. :cheeky:

What you mean "the pulling is hard all the way" till red line? The pull back or what?

hehehe what i mean by pulling hard till redlne is the bike is able to surge forward without delays. Not like the choking effect you got.

Anyway, today i spend 8 hours, cleaning and tuning my carbs. I changed 3 sets of the o-rings myself and the connector for the carb to the engine block.

After inspection, I think the diaphragms and the gaskets need to be changed too. I will need to make another trip to guan hoe to get the stuff.

Overall, I feel that the bike runs more smooth now. If I get to change all the wear and tear parts, this gsxr400 is still a very good and fun bike to ride.

See the right connector from the carb to engine block, no wonder got air leaking. :p Left one is new, compare the o-ring, the old one is completely gone.
