phone camera can also take pretty good shots these days...don't let the equipment be the reason not to capture the images that you see :-) even my simple e71 camera, and my older 6120 camera works very nicely. just need to know what their limitations are and work around them.

enjoy!

Scubasimon,

you're nifty & quick with your pictures! Just read your entry and guess it's too late to join you - as you're probably somewhere in tuas taking your shots by now.

Btw here are some photos from riding around singapore some time ago taken with my 2 megapixel phone camera.

After missing the opportunity to capture the sunrise the last two days, I was determined today to enjoy the ending of the day. I wanted to capture (as usual) the way the sun is setting against something recognizably Singapore, as well as with my bike as a prop. Don't ask me why but I am just trying to get my bike into as many pictures as I can for the moment.

Since I needed a place to park my bike in order to take such pictures, I had to recce a spot where I can have peace and quiet while my bike is parked, at least for an hour or so without the hassle of security or police. The best place I could think of was somewhere in Marina South. So that's where I headed!

I got there relatively early around 6:20pm and started looking around for a good spot. It didn't take long for this spot to catch my eye. So I parked the bike and started playing around with angles. As I was moving around trying different things, I chanced upon this reflection and thought it was rather nice.

I liked the dynamic nature of the reflection, how this particular angle makes the three towers come to live, animated by the beautiful light in the sky behind.

As the sun started to go down further, I decided I needed a traditional sunset silhouette shot and quickly re-parked my bike to a location where the background can be framed by the two trees.

The light moves faster and faster when the sun is nearing the horizon so I had to shoot fast, trying out different angles and crops, making full use of my camera frame. This shot, I thought, captured the spirit of the sunset the best. I liked how the lights are distinctly changing from warm orange to cool indigo.

Not long after, the sun has completely gone out of view and the light in the sky has changed to a beautiful blue hue. The street lights also came on where I was standing. I experimented with some different angles and came up with this one.

I liked how you can tell I rode there even though you can't really see my bike :p

It got dark after that and the lights in the office buildings started to come on. It became very difficult to take sharp pictures because of the drop in light levels. Since I sold off my tripod, I had to hand hold my shots because of the angles.

I wanted to show how the cool lights of the city contrasted with the warm glow of the street lamp that is illuminating my bike. This final picture really showed what we bikers see when we are sitting down next to our bikes at sunset, just having a quiet moment enjoying the light play in front of us.

That's all for today. Show me more of your shots!!

Yeah sure, your riding timing suits mine. My 2B bike too small for e-ways, so tend to avoid heavy traffic timings.

Know the feeling, bro!

Here're some more photos taken from trips about Singapore on my rides. I'm sure you all would have guessed where most of them were taken at - Bedok Jetty, whilst one was the moonrise at the carpark entrance below my block during the CNY period and the other one was an odd attempt to capture a very unique sunset along east coast road one Saturday evening earlier in the year when the entire sky was weird golden-yellow hue after a very unusual week of rain.

i have many fond memories of bedok jetty. i used to take my wife and kids there on the weekends and we would walk the entire jetty, talk and laugh, and look at people trying to catch fish.

do you fish?

wah...you take sunset pictures while on the road...very brave :-)

Yes, it's a delightful place to take the family - the view from the jetty is always perfect whatever the time of day - take your wife & kids there once more (or perhaps the kids are all grown up and want to do their own stuff these days? Mine's still too little, although I'm getting old myself). :) Unfortunately I don't fish - only done it once when I was a teen. As for the photo taken alongside the road -nope, wasn't doing it while riding (very irresponsible to do something like that) :nono: - I actually stopped by the kerbside to take that shot (blinking hazard lights and all) ;)
