The "Chain Wax" and the "Chain Guard?"

From a hearsay source, Chain Guard does the job of lubing. Chain Wax does it better by protecting the chain so when you apply it, it coats the chain as well as lube it.

You should look for ANR Impex, he is the guru (and also the distributor) for both Maxima products.

Actually, you can pick any one. Both does the same job except that chain wax comes with more "features".

i made a chain lube system from plastic medicine bottles, tubes and accessories from the aquarium shop. This lube system oils your chain better than any spray and is envionmentally friendly, cos there is no spray can to throw away and no proprellant gas entering the atmosphere. And your chain life lasts much much longer, like 7 times.

Personally, I would recommend PJ1 for lubing ur chain. It's totally clear and leave ur gold chain clean and tidy. I also find tat PJ1 won't fly off easily even I spray (1 coat) then go for riding. Yup..it's low viscosity...very thin.

PJ1 Blue label is clear, but it is very sticky, collects alot of road grit that is abrasive and soon turns black. Doesn't do a very good job of rust prevention from my experience.

act the same as yr chain lube..

the onli diff is that will fling alot more than chain lube..

and chain lube spray save u the hassle of having a brush to apply the oil on yr chain and wait for the excess oil to drip out..

bro..i tink u r abit confused already

what alex is trying to say is that u can make use of leftover engine oil to lubricate the chain

it has got nothing to do with whatever engine oil u already have in the engine

the idea of lubricating a chain is to prolong its lifespan. taking any of the 2 extremes (over-lubricating & under-lubricating) is not good.

over lubricating may result in excessive flinging or trapping of unwanted dirt on the chain

under lubricating will result in lifespan of chain not maximised

so if u intend to use spare engine oil to lurbicate yr chain, a good guideline will be to lube it once every 2 weeks or so. :goodluck:

oic :cheeky:

so it depends on how much engine oil is still left on yr chain, then u decide whether to add somemore lube or not mahz (refer to the over & under lubricating part from my previous reply)

the purpose of engine oil on the chain = same purpose of having chain lube on the chain = to lubricate the chain & prolong its lifespan

hi there all

Here's my personal opinion on engine oil:

It lives in the crankcase (or gearbox for 2 strokers) and makes sure that it bathes the gears with lubrication needed to overcome the effects of harmful friction.

Sure, you can use it to lubricate your chain but you have to consider using it frequently. Engine oil is concealed inside the bike -- it works better inside. When used outside, as in its usage on the chain, it is exposed to the environment where I believe it can be washed off -- necessitating frequent application of gear oil.

I'm going to engage in product favouritism :cheeky: : Use commercial chain lubes...they stay on the chain longer.

Unless you got a product like Rabbit Oiler installed.... which I did previously. In which case using EO is a good alternative.

If not, after every ride use brush to oil the chain with EO, where got so much time!?

I use a DIY chain-oiler made for me by a fellow forumer, based on the commercial Loobman type.

I further modified the applicator so that the EO to my sprocket is slower and more consistent, allowing auto-lubing everytime I am on the move.

I would recommend these auto-oiler highly, affordable ones can get from sources on this forums (if u are loaded, go get the Scottoiler). It's easy enough to DIY oso(if u have the time).

just adjust it to suit ur bike and ease of chain maintenance can almost be guaranteed.

btw, my chain has not required any adjustments for 10 mths since i installed the oiler liao, and its still going strong.

I believe most of the shops does not carry Maxima Chain guard..

or not more stocks liao..

went around singapore to find maxima chain guard, but could not find it..

Even mustaffa also dun have..

In the end, i go amk eddy ong and @@.. also no Maxima chain guard..

so i just buy the Maxima Chain wax which costs $12 only (small bottle)...

Like the smell after i spray.,. Nice fragnant smell..

**Highly recommended** :thumb:

Will not turn ur chain from gold to black chain..

Previous use PJ Blue label, very very sticky..

but after certain period of time, the chain tend to collect small pebbles and sand and turn black instantly..

but good things is dun need to lube too often as the lube still remains after the heavy rain.. lolx..

Gd for lazy people like me.. lol..
