u can check it by looking at the plates of the chain.. there will mention wat model and brand of chain u use.. the other way is see for the rubber seal in between the plates..

:)

when the lub haven dry, it will be shiny.. after awhile, the lub will dry up a little.. that y the shininess is reduce..

the amount needed to lub is very little.. no point lub too much as it will fling off while riding.. the most important is how u lub and which part of the chain.. check the previous posts by others to understand the rite method..

After graciously lending my chain lube to my friends and colleagues, i switched to using expanded engine oil which i apply using a brush.

Works fine. There is quite some fling, but its dirt cheap. or rather, free. since i change my own engine oil, i keep the oil for chain lube purposes.

you can put the oil in a singer oil bottle too if you want. or even a squeeze bottle that you see at hawker centers for soya sauce.

i prefer the brush method. more control about how much oil goes on your chain, and less wastage due to excessive dripping.

to warm the chain up so the lub can flow to access to the parts that needed to be lub..

spray inside out to reduce the fling..

heh first time i washed chain with diesel today.

find it to be oily. so i washed it with soap before air dry and spray on castol chain lube.

my question is whether it is aright to wash the diesel off with soap water? cos i heard if use kerosene don't have to wash as it evaporates off?

Posted

for me after washing with diesel i wash with super lots of water then ride around awhile b4 i spray the chain lube.

I oso using castrol chain lube, super sticky, now my chain damn black again hahaha

The main reason to lub the chain is to provide oil to the pins and the seal to reduce the shear force. Diesel give a weak oily layer. Therefore, i dun wash wif soap. Juz rinse wif plenty of water is my practise. :)

i scared ma.. diesel although gives an oily feel but actually removes oil also.. so i was afraid that if i left my diesel there and spray chain lube that would counter the effect??

paiseh i noob ^ ^ only ride for one month :) pls share :p
