i'm not "upgrading" because i am gonna keep my current bike which i like very much. just looking for a comfortable longer range and faster bike for a different style of riding.

definitely will get 2a but it will be another 322 days before i can take up class 2a course.

in the 322 days before your 2a... maybe you can ride your current bike more, get comfortable with it and learn all you can about riding... also to get a better idea of what you want in a bike... dont rush into getting a second bike yet

especially cause in the 2B category most bikes are more for transport than anything else, and for your requirements (fast, stable, fat rear tire, for long distance riding) the bikes in 2B are few and far between... but once you get class 2a and even better class 2, the category of bikes as "toys" really starts to open up

class 2b bikes are small, light, cheap to run and fun (and i love them for that)... but for the requirements you mentioned... they are a bit inadequate :cheeky:

you are right that there aren't many options in class 2b that would suit my requirements...but this also is one of the reasons why it is to exciting to try and find one that can suit...its a challenge and i relish it.

i'm riding my bike every day since i got it...been driving very little actually...so yeah...i love what it can do...and i am sure i'll learn more about it with each ride...still...i'm like that...cannot stop my itch with any of my passions. same with my car, my photography, my diving, my golf, my music...my... you get the idea :)

most scram have fat rear tires... my 2B xl200 scrambler rear tire is about the same thickness as my 2A rd350lc rear tire

huh or maybe it just means my lc has skinny tires... o_O

you can try modify a bike for a fatter rear tire but think that might affect the handling

like it at first sight, trade-in straight away tat was 5 yrs ago n still riding it.

yes, it's comfortable at cruising 70~100kph after i did some minor changes like sprocket n carb tuning.

all singles vibs, stock roadwin vibs at 2-zones 4~5k n >8k rpm.

vibs can be reduce by changing stock front sprocket 14t to 15t.

plus tuning carb richer, the bike runs cooler n increase hp also reduce vibs.

maintenance-wise like any 2b bikes - one spark plug, one litre EO, one oil filter, one air-filter (change every 25k km), etc.

yeah, it's a 4-stroke single piston, 4-valves, air/oil cool 125cc engine.

there's a upgrade version which has better power named 'X5', advertised as 150cc but it is actually 140.2cc.

roadwinR (rwR) sport version - EFI, twin-cam, water-cool 4-stroke 4-valves 125cc engine has a balancing shaft to dampen vib runs smoother n has more power.

u can check out new hyosung comets advertised by bike production, looks really good.

i think the derbi gpr has 130/70

same as nsr125 and reiju rs2 125 (not in sg.. hehe).

sachs xtc 125 and gilera sp 01 sp 02 (not in sg too. hha) have big tyres too.

nsr150 sp also have bigger stock tyres and rims than krr/tzm, with 120/80..

but its heavy. better use 120/70, 110/70 or 100/80

mito is quite exteme.. feels really good when u in 'racing mood'

its got good parts too.

after seeing my tw wheel at 180/80...most other bikes wheels look thin...but i can still handle the 130-150 sizes visually...any thinner and it looks off to my weird eye...

...as i view more bikes, i get it now that its not just the tire, its also the size of the bike. afterall, i don't wanna end up looking like an uncle on a small sporty bike...completely out of place :p

How about looking at Suzuki DR200?? I have been riding it for 3 months now. didnt really ram the engine and i can cruise at 100-110km comfortably. the rear wheel is definitely wide.

heard that honda phantom ta200 is not in production anymore....is it true?

if it is, what if we are going to buy a 1st hand ta200.....in a few years time, will it be easier to maintain it (eg: buy spare parts) since the bike is out of production...

any comments?
