Hi guys, just want to ask what is best of class 2B bike? cause dont mind me i am new and would be taking my liscence soon. The NSR150SP have captured my eyes. but would like to know your opinions from those who got great expericences and would like keep my options wide but i perfer a sports bike type. apperciate your help.:thumb:

Maybe you may want to slow things down and ask yourself some questions with regards to the expectation of a bike. Because what is best for rider A may not be the best for rider B as different people has different expectation.

* How much budget are you going to set aside for your ride? i.e. downpayment / monthly total amount.

* What do you expect from a bike? Comfort? Speed? Looks? Fuel Economy?

* How long do you think you are going to keep the bike before changing to another bike / upgrading to class 2A bike?

Do shop around bike shops, work out your expectation of a bike and the amount you can set aside for owning a bike. Enjoy riding your bike, not struggle to pay for your bike.

Have fun learning and riding.

Used to ride RXZ, 2 stroke bike... now changed to X1R.

Support 4 stroke bike to the fullest. Used to pump at esso with my RXZ, and managed to redeem 300 points for free $10 petrol within 2 months, sometimes 1 1/2 mth.. now.. more than 2 months liao.. going third month... only got 140 points!!

Imagine the petrol i save.. In singapore, you can't speed.... what for get 2 stroke? Speeding is dangerous..

used to ride very fast but many traffic lights.. its everywhere! hahahaha.. all the cars and bike catch up with me at the next traffic light, in which, i full throttle = burn more fuel. LOL.

Now riding x1r, ride slowly.. catch up with sp, kr, all the 2 strokers and smiling cause why? I use lesser petrol than them... way way less!

Hahahahaa.. think first before you buy a bike bro :D Get a first hand x1r, or spark... save alot on maintainance, fuel etc etc..

Ride 2 years plus liao.. now relax liao.. but since you're new, and wish to ride fast for the thrill.. you can go for SP.. :D Its nice.. but i hope you will think long term :)

@KeraKing: i thought bikes will always be toys even though they are used for cheap transportation :)

@RideAwayBoy: seriously though, no matter what bike you get, do ensure you set aside budget for protection gear. i had a fall on hari raya and got away with no injury because of my gear. i fell at 20kph only. but without gear, i will certainly have gotten sprained ankle, bruised feet, "bak gua" road rash on both arms, plus hand injury...and maybe my ulner will be broken as well since I fell on a sharp edge. so do give this some thought...especially when you are riding nice SP...ok? Plus you will look 10x cooler with the gear when you are riding :)

Some people use their bikes as cheap transportation and really treat it as only cheap transportation

If there's no passion for the bike and it's used only to haul the rider's ass to work and back everyday, it's easy to see how that can happen

And to some people, they need their bikes to support their family, they sure wouldn't consider them as "toys"

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

um what i expect from the bike maybe a little bit of everything

well how long, not sure depends but maybe use it for a year or two if i like it maybe longer =]

ye thanks for the advice will shop around for it. sure all of us want to enjoy riding our bikes and not to struggle to pay for it. lol

Actually, this is true no matter who/where you buy a used motorcycle from. Sometimes people are out to hide something, other times they are simply not aware that the bike is not in the best of conditions due to their own ignorance.

So it is best that you decide what is important to you before you go and view a motorcycle. If you do not, then the chances are that you will be so blinded by the attraction of owning a motorcycle and make a rash decision.

Here is an article that I read inside out, many times through, before I went viewing. I think there are some good tips in there for any motorcycle buyer/seller. The writer is a little too cautious for me but I think the ideas are sound. At the end of the day, you have to decide what is important because your priorities will not be the same as the writer's.

Receipt also can't be trusted. Why?

My friend working as a mcdelivery rider, he told me, sometimes when he lazy to go to work, he call mcdonald and say his bike got problem and ask for a day off.

And then later on that day, he went to the regular bike shop & ask the uncle for receipt to prove that his bike got problems(when actually his bike has no problems at all).

So yea, receipt or no receipt, it still won't make any difference. For 2nd hand bikes, it really depends totally on your luck & how honest the seller/shop is to you.

ouhk thanks for the advise. so shall stick to my decision on SP!:thumb: btw do you know the petrol consumption for SP?

Fc depends on your tuning, mods and the way you ride. Correct gears at the correct speeds helps to save on fuel.

But to be honest, I got bored with sp's sound, speed and the need of refilling the 2t jst 2weeks after i got the bike. However im changing into 2a in less than 1 month. (:

Dont spend too much on 2b if you'r intending to upgrade yeah.

Goodluck and hope you get your license soon. Ride safe.

go whatever ur hearts wants..cuz thats d best decision ever and regrets will most prob be minimal, cuz its ur choice & not influenced by others' million different opinions which myt just confuse u..of coz, knowing the bikes' spec & all doesnt hurt..

have fun w ur sp :)

ps: if in my opinion, best (sportsbike) bike wud be kr..cuz kr is practically in the middle..have a bit of everything good and bad in moderation..that is keeping in mind that all the bikes compared is kept at best & stock condition :)

R15 is relatively new but it gives good mileague. 12L can hit almost 400km!

I'm riding it for daily transport.

Since brand new bike, juz do normal servicing and won't give u headaches for next 2 years.

But 4-stroke, can't compare with KR 0r SP as this bike got no power.

U want speed and power, most common ar SP or KR, but i guess can onli find 2nd hand ones.

alot of pple say they dont wan spend much on 2b bike, but for kr & sp, pple tend to spend more, due to one, its a second hand bike thus will spend quite an amount to rectify the problems present (kr 1st hand i think still have but difficult to find nowadays, sp dun haf at all 1st hand) and two, will succumb to peer pressure to do mods to ur bikes (any bikes at all will still have mods)..

the best would really be what ur heart wants..really..some of my frens say they regretted buying the bike that pple say is good and still wanted to go for their dream bike..so yeh..go for YOUR dream bike..it will be a memorable experience for u for a first bike..most pple remembers their 1st bike & im sure u wan good memories of ur 1st ride later on in ur life..:) whats best u can do next is to gather info abt ur dream bike as much as possible..maintenance & all..sometimes thinking & weighing too much makes u go crazy..keep it simple..follow ur heart :thumb:

ps: my opinion wud b u already made up ur mind..but u r jus keeping ur options open..go w ur decision already man :)

Yeap its good to know what your mind has set on. Some people will say dont get sport bike cos so fast no use. Some people will say dont get scooter/kup becos if wanna save money, public transport will still save you more(might i add SAFER?).

Some will say get R15/r125/wave/spark/..../..../..../etc/ , mainly its becos they own the bike themselves, or its the bike they want.

Just dont be psyco'ed or think too much later confuse. You want a SP/KR i'll say its a good bike, if its your taste/requirement is up to you to decide.

Btw after you pass do yourself a BIG favour and go to http://www.onemotoring.com.sg/publish/onemotoring/en/autoshop/motoring_directory/motorcycle_insurance.html

Call them all up and ask. I forgot which, but my friend got a insurance company that gave him 900+ for 3rd party, as apposed to NTUC's 1.3k for kawa.

Just call them all. :thumb:
