Hi all,

Can someone give me advice on what to expect for my first riding lesson in bbdc? If i'm not a good bicycle rider does that means i'm won't be a good motorbike rider too? And last but not least, is it really very dangerous for a lady to ride a bike?

I'm confuse and really need some advice here.

Thanks :(

Cheers,

Shakira :)

elloo. first lesson's always easy..u just learn abt gettin the bike off e stand.. and some other stuffs..u'd only ride it around a little in the mini circuit for new learners and its not before gettin some half-clutch practice to get u used to bike movin off and stuff.er.if you're not a good cyclist,hmmm..well a bike is a little like a motorbike but with practising, you can be good at anything. it'd help if you're abit taller in terms of controlling the bike, especially when it stops. but if not, thr's some low-cut bikes to facilitate your learning. ahaha. try not to be too nervous or scared cos it'll make it difficult fr yrself. im learnin thr too.TP on e 30th november. GOOD LUCK lady!:thumb:

Hi Shakira,

I'm learning at BBDC right now too. I'm female, 1.58m tall, and weigh half of what the bike does. When I first started out I kept dropping off the bike because I couldn't get used to the weight of the thing - I knew how to balance on a bicycle but a 100kg motorbike felt entirely different.

If you're not confident, the weight of the bike and getting used to pushing it around will be a challenge. Not knowing how to ride a bicycle is not going to help you, but it won't hurt you either. The instructors are very patient, so first thing to remember: don't worry (too much).

The first lesson everyone will be trying to get used to the basics, so just make use of the time to accustom yourself to the bike. Don't think about getting on it and zipping around the circuit right away, everyone starts out at the same class, so just try to have fun la! If you drop the bike, pick it up and try again. If you fall with the bike, get up, dust yourself off, and try again!

As for whether it is more dangerous for a lady rider: it's dangerous for everyone. That's why you're in school to learn how to ride safely mah. xD

Hope you have fun! Be safe. :)

expect to feel like **** if u cant balance the bike. if i haf to ride a bicycle now, i would be really good at it as it'll be freaking too light for me.

anyway its dangerous for anyone to ride in sg as we're not very respected and be prepared to get bullied... so u gotta haf a cool head...

Life is not the amount of breath u take, but the moments that take ur breath away.

It is not how hard you fall, its how fast you get up.

my advise. take ur time. the instructor are there to guide and help u.

if u need pointers can pm me also I stay near bbdc.

just keep in mind that all of us riding were once like u. so in conclusion u need practice and guts.

on the dangerous part, there is only that much u can do. male or female no difference. just need to do ur part and be safe. wont wanna be part of the statistics right?

If you have a bicycle, please practice alot on it. It really helps.

I used to ride a bicycle alot when i was younger. When i saw a corner, i would purposely speed very fast and try to negotiate the corner. I spent years riding my mountain bike.

And then i became too huge. My height of 182cm and 80kg made it really difficult to ride a bicycle and the strain on my knees was really horrible.

But when i got on the motorcycle at CDC, it was a natural thing. The motorcycle just and still feels like a motorised bicycle with just more power. My advice to you is that practice on a bicycle if you have the time. Negotiate your corners, go around drain covers etc. I have a friend who had difficulty in managing the cone shalom or whatever is it called. It was so easy. But how he trained was putting putting stuff on the ground and practice on his bicycle. Worked for him.

Just remember, practice, practice and don't be afraid and go all the way! Best of luck babe! :)

Hey babe! Jiayou! good luck for ur first prac & dont ever give up.

I think for first prac, u need to learn to handle the weight of ur bike, & if u're small, definitely will struggle but yeap practice makes perfect. Good luck! :cheeky:

Hi Shakira,

How's your first day at the taining centre? Hope everything fine and fun.

Well, there actually nothing to it. Honestly speaking i got my class 2A and have ride for more then yearss.......... till today, i still don't know how to ride a bicycle, no joke to you. :cheeky:

If it dangerous for a lady to ride a bike, i should say NO. Just becareful when you are on the road, and if you are moving in between car move (overtake them fast) don't stay there for more then 2 second, also move went you feel comfortable. And last thing and not least, move to the middle of the lane if you are going slow, and never stay behind heavy motoring for more then 2 minute, try not to be in their blind spot.

Happy riding.

it's better to fall while you're learning at the centre, rather than fall when you're outside on your own. best to take every lesson as a chance to learn, fall, get up and learn again. =)

hey ho, let's go.

YA !!!! think must be keep FAR a way FROM TAXI oso,,,,& rather ride fast to overtake them if not will kanna ,,,angry::angry::angry::angry:

Yalor, also look out for some of those car driver, some of them are really ... ...

Well, just learn what ever you can in the training centre. Try to ride with some "senior" rider and talk to them to have more road ex... They will tell you how to look out for some crazy driver out there.

Remember to be respossible to what you are doing, sometime you don't bend ppl, ppl will bend you one. And don't get a bike you cannot handle when you are just new get to know "the road" first.

Cheer:)
