Hi all,

I'm intending to get either a HD nightster 2010 or iron883. I have so much questions regarding this bike, but do not know where to start from.

What is the power difference between this 2 bike? From what I know, there are not much difference except for the displacement.

Will prefer doing some read up. Is there any sites where I can find out more about this bike, or the HD shops in Singapore?

eg.

1) Parts to take care of

2) Things to replace during servicing

3) How many HD service shop are there in Singapore? I believe the agent is not the only shop

4) Is the show room the only place to get a new HD bike from?

Can I just walk into the show room and order 1?

Would really appreciate for any kind replies or advise from bros in the forum.

Thanks you in advance.

For starters, the best place to read up on them are the HD forums elsewhere.

1) I don't really know what to say about the parts to take care of, would say the normal stuff for any other bikes. Parts you may want to change I probably can give a few. :D

2) Your new ride will come with a manual, so it will have the servicing intervals. During servicing, depending on what mileage you are at, different parts need to be changed. I usually change plugs, oil and filter every 5k km. Brakes as and when required. Belt can last till 100k, but 80k should be ok. Brake fluids maybe every 25k or less.

3) SunHog, Sunburst, Sumsoon, Customcycles, Rosli (http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148245)

4) New, yes.

And I'm sure you have to walk in the showroom to place your order. But do go for a test ride first.

My Rides:

LuLu, Piaggio Gilera Runner FXR 180 (Feb05-Aug05)

PhanPhan, Honda Phantom TA 200 (Aug05-July07)

Leyley, HD Sportster XL1200R (Jul07-July09)

TiTi, Yamaha Majesty YP250 (Jul07-Oct09)

DyNaNa, HD FXDX Dyna SGS (Jul09-Dec10)

LanPaPa, Vespa Excel PX150XE (Oct09-Jul10)

PiaSekSek, Piaggio X8 (Aug10-Dec10)

Stixie, Honda ST1300A (Jan11-Nov15)

Giogio, Piaggio MP3 400IE (Nov15-??)

Buddy - You should get yourself down to the dealership and talk to the guys down there. Have a look at the various rides and discuss the differences between the models. This is their job and they are generally happy to tell you what they can. They also have demo bikes you can ride - there is generally also a few riders hanging around you can have a yarn to. I have bought a few Harleys from the dealership without any problems.

In my opinion if you want to ride out of Singapore you should go for the 1200or even better a big twin. I found the 883 underpowered compared to the 1200 however as a commuter within Singapore no problems and still quite a hoot (expensive commuter though).

Cheers

15-18km/l should be about it..

I get 22km/l on mine and it's 80". Recycle, ride old bikes!

It's your damn bike, wash it yourself! You rinse your own mouth after you eat, don't you?

Try google for HDforum, HDtalking, V-twinforum etc. We used to have one but it's down. Not enough traffic to keep it going I guess.

I am having 22-24 km/l

@starass,

hi, i ride a 2008 nightster.

i get most of my information about modification, customisation, part numbers etc etc, in fact anything about the bike from xlforum

when you are more familiar with the site, you may like to go to bobber and chopper section, that where your bike starts to take a distinctive shape or style
