i wanna adjust the co of my bike, heard from my fren certain adjustments give better torque and i dont know what la. anyone here knows what settings is good for wat and all? mine is currently the same whereas my fren R6 is 4,5,5,4. hmmm any has the slightest idea of this setting?

no pc.. original yamaha oil filter.. have to wait tomorrow for the engine to be dead cold again.. then i c if it comes on again.. thanx

when ur bike has a problem it will display an error code on ur meter.. refer to service manual for error code..eg error code 15 is "open or short circuit of throttle position lead" u will then go to this self diag mode, select the diag code eg. " if error 15 go to diag, select D:01" to test/adjust or check for the specific part.. u will need the mechanic service manual to do all these checking/testing, abit complicating without instructions..

My R1 battery flat liaoz, cannot start anymore. Its 2 years old so I think about time to get a new one. Any bike shop to recommend for good original battery and tow service?

Don't waste your money towing la, for God's sake.

The batt is under your rider seat. Take it out yourself. Get the model number, and then go LAB or Automachinery and buy one.

Too late... I just saw. U towed. Oh well...

The next time, touchwood, if your run out of juice....

Put the bike into gear 2, ignition on, clutch in, run the thing until you get 10kph, throw clutch... and when it starts, immediately clutch in and put to neutral and sidestand down.

If you park in MSCP, even better. Jump onto the bike and jumpstart on a down ramp.

Then you can ride to the bikeshop to get your batt. But seriously, I would rather forgo the extra $$ u pay the bikeshop and just go to Automachinery or LAB to get it.

Bros

Have a similar predicament. My R6 won't start too. Think the batt went flat. Won't crank up. Despite the bike being a weekend love affair, I have been a slacker of late. The last time I cranked it up to ride was more than 2 weeks ago.

Called HL and they told me that the cost of the battery w/o labour is scaringly in excess of $300. After some discount the price of the batt is about $250. Labour itself would be about $40-$50. I am looking at other options given the cost and luckily there is this recent post.

Was the tow arranged by Planet or did you get someone else to do the job? $130 for battery and labour? How long was the bike left at the workshop? Battery got warranty?

Think there were earlier posts commenting on batteries as well but can't really locate them.

Appreciate the advice.

Upz!!

DIY. Pop your seat open and get a philips screwdriver.

http://www.usmotorcyclebatteries.com/ytz10s-yuasa-battery-p-229.html

Your batt should be the YTZ-10S.

Give LAB a call. BTW, don't get the "Made in TW" TTZ one. I just changed my YTZ-14 to a TTZ-14 and it died after 2 weeks. I went back to Regina and well... haggled/demanded a refund, got it... and topped up for a YTZ. The diff is that, the TTZ is the liquid electrolyte one, while the YTZ should be a "dry-cell" (gel-acid actually) battery.

But you need to get them to charge up the battery for you first (1 hr) before you put it in. Just ask nicely, or insist. They'll help.

Don't waste your cash having your bike towed to a bike shop of all places for a simple batt change.

Trust me. For simple matters like this, it's better to DIY. Get to know your bike a bit more.

It's not a top-end overhaul. :p

My Mileage is already 11600km +. And i'm enjoying it alot! So far no problems for me.

I only changed the brake hoses. Set my suspensions, and its great on the track.

Hoping to change my Front brake master pump to a better Brembo.

For those riders who has flat battery due to lack of use, try to re-charge it first. Replace only when charging fails.

A new battery cost more than $100. A simple constant current charger is less than $100 at hardware stores. More sophisticated charger that can test batt health is ony slightly above $100. You can use it for your car batt as well. your investment will be returned in no time.

For those new bikes that has flat batt, I suggest you check your charging system or find out if there is any leakage. Your Batt will be flat again if the root cause is not found and rectified.

my 2 cents. :dot:

Agree. But as a reference, if your batt has been drained too much, then it will probably have been sulphated and will probably be permanently dead.

2 symptoms:

If you put in on a charger and it goes to trickle charge mode almost immediately after you start charging, it's gone.

If, after charging, you put on a voltmeter and see the voltage drop to under 12.4V within minutes, it's gone too.

my is also like that which my mech say it common for R1,but still it might be wear and tear of clutch plate i think.
