Sorry but I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've got another thread going on that is directly relevant to this thread: Tyres: For hard street riding

I just find that this thread is too messy and disorientated, hope to see it in a more structured manner, thanks!

I miss you baby:

Arrowmax by Dunlop is not a good tyre but has good mileage. Even when tyre is fresh, compound is rather hard for use in sport bike. If you ride fast and get careless sometimes, this is not a good tyre to use, especially on a wet surface.

Water channelling ability of the tyre during very wet rides are also a challenge for the rider.

For wheel spin, usually for powerful bikes but lately small capacity high performance bikes also can happen. If you are a experienced rider there are a few things that you already know how it occur. Like the road surface- type of pavement, painted, wet or sandy etc, the amount of throttle input , the angle of lean when you take a corner and when you are already at lean the instant which you increase throttle. The load transfer ( load distribution during moving) and angle of lean with throttle input affects when you get wheel spin. The angle which you enter a corner also can cause wheel spin. You can also get a wheel spin when you moving straight and upright but this is rather rare.

If you are unable to understand the dynamics of a moving bike and can't react appropriately when you get a wheel spin, ride slower and lean less especially on wet rides.

But there are advantages, when a bike is set up in such a way that wheel spin can be controlled. But don't do it on the road, please.

Just a little comment for those using BT39SS for their SP, KRR, TZM or RS. These tyres have really great grip and are pretty forgiving in corners. But they tend to wear pretty fast. A morning at PG today and I could see the wear already.

The tyre is labelled "front use only" not for fun. Do you think the mech or the tyre maker has more experience and expertise in the performance of tyres? If you can, go swap the tyre. If not, then play safe and don't ride too hard.

For SP it's 90/80 front and 120/80 rear stock. Go check out the SP manual under the downloads section.

I'm riding TZM wif stock rims..not sure if the 110/70/17 could be use for my front..think mito or rs125 would prob fit it better...any advice il4??

thans for the info..i need u to enlighten me abt the use of front tyre on the rear..i dun really push myself too hard on corners(too ****** to do dat..still learning the bike)..jus wanna noe wat to expect wif it on my bike..thx in advance..i'm not sure if this is a good place to discuss abt trie pressure..well..i belive dat tire of different size will prob need different pressure..bigger tyres and more air capasity thus wen heated up will expand more..so should we take the mesurement b4 and after it's warmed up to get it right??it's pretty confusing for me...

Guys, me thinking of changing to Dunlop gpr70sp.

Now using BT010, which have served me well enough. Been to track about 5 times with it and it sure grips. To those guys who say that 010 is lousy, well, I am a user and I disagree.

Come look at my tyres and feel them. Then tell me that they don't grip. Please. I'm sure that while the grip is not the best available in the market, it is good enough for a track beginner like me.

But, seems that a lot has been said about gpr70sp. Was actually looking for diablo corsa, but seems that they don't come in 120/160 front/rear combination. Well, what the heck.

But, the thing i notice is that my bike needs a Z rating. My ride is a CBR600F3(98 model). Thus, can I still try using the gpr?

any advice il4?

Superb lah brader.

Actually I am already using 120/70 for the front. It wasn't much a calculated choice, but rather a "bo pian" choice as my front then was due and LAB only has 120/70 then.

Then I discovered my bike was always drifting to the right or left when I let go of the handle bar. But cornering wise, leaning the bike down and up is faster than previous. Scary at first but more fun as I got used to it. So now I have my explanation. Thanks brader.

But, seems that BT012ss don't come in 160 for the rear. Maybe I am wrong.

Oh ya, and can you (il4) please explain the thingy about dead tyres and how to check...

Thanks a million...

BT010 and BT090, which have more grip, and which have more mileage?

Be happy always :-)

any1 to recommend aprilia rs's tyres? besides the dunlop sportmax 207s. From il4's post it seems the rs shouldn't be on the sportmax since its got a Z rating, and rs's of course can't run any number close to that speed....so recoomend?

wht do u recommend for the tyre inflation? do i follow the aprilia's manual for inflation? it however seems quite low

180 kpa for front and

230 kpa for rear

that equates to 26 psi for front and 33 psi for rear

from what i know the normal inflation for front for sports bikes are 36 front and 40 rear.

i'm using the stock dunlop sportmax 207s btw.

yo il4...

I read about the offer for Metzler's sportec M1.

Since it comes with 120/160 combination, I guess it fits my bike.

Well, are these babies right for me?

F.Y.I., in the coming 6 months I will be doing 2 touring trips.

In between that gonna fit in 2 or 3 track sessions per month.

How?

And are they are in the league of BT010 or in the league of BT012ss?

Thanks.

I know that the manual suggested very low tire pressure, u can try 28SPi front 30 PSI rear, +/- 2 psi

i see thanks il4. will go pump them when i visit the petrol stop today.

btw what tyres do u recommend for normal street riding for the aprilia rs125?

they gave stock dunlop 207s sportmax but they are Z rated, wldn't that be a problem cos the rs definitely will never get close to that kind of speeds.

hmm...thanks for your info il4.

By the way, a friend of mine got the M1 tyres (120/180) for $450.

Isn't that a bit too ex for tyres on the same league as BT010?

Cause my BT010 cost me 250 a set, at both LAB and HKL.

Again, thanks for the info.

If need to, pls recommend any good 120/160 tyres in the future.

Was really hoping for diablo corsa, but again size is a factor.

I just got a pair of new tyres.

Front Bridgestone 39ss and rear Bridgestone 090...

Is it okay with this combo?

No good combo even though both from Bridgestone as both diff. types; one is radial and the other bias type. Difffent characteristics in many aspects.
