It was a bad news for me when I heard that my friend was arrested by TP yesterday at a police road block. He failed the initial breath test and then he was arrested and escorted to TP for another breath test.

He took the breath test and he failed the test. His result was 50 ug. The legal limit is below 35ug and below. Shitt... he failed the test. Now he is facing a definite disqualification. My friend told me that the TP investigator spoke to him and told him about the consequences of drink driving in detail. But the outcome was demoralising... the officer told my friend that he will be disqaulified from driivng all classes of licence for minimum 12 months and after the disqualification period, my friend have to take the entire process in taking the licence back. I mean he have to take his BTT, FTT and the entire practical lessons again.

What a waste.... My friend spent a lot to get his driving licence and now just because of one grave mistake and he cried over his stupid mistake..... EVERYTHING IS GONE JUST LIKE THAT..... After seeing this i strongly beleive that TP is very strict on drink driving..... NO MERCY WILL BE GIVEN TO U.... THAT MEANS U ARE DIGGING UR OWN GRAVE....

All i can do now is to console my friend but will it going to help him any bit... He badly needs the licence for his job mobility since he is in sales line.... Is there anybody out there that who can give me suggestions to help my friend in this matter????

We all know the consequences if we are caught for drink driivng, but i still can't understand on why people like my friend still do such a act. Sometimes i feel angry over my friend but is my anger going to solve the problem.. ITS TOO LATE...

Lastly I would like to say my personal opinion... after seeing my friend's state i strongly would like to pass this message... PLEASE DONT DRINK AND DRIVE or RIDE... YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY IS AT STAKE AND OTHER INNOCENT ROAD USERS TOO... Driving licence is an asset to us.. we shed our blood to obtain one.. so why give it away easily.. WE MUST TREASURE IT..... IF any brothers would like to comment further on my opinion.. OR DISAGREE TO IT.. you are most welcome to give ur comments.

Sad case, he needs the licences to earn a living and he abused his privilige to be on the road. At least he got stopped before he caused any eternal regrets. Let this be a wake up call to your friend as well as those who drink and drive/ride.

Let this be a lesson to be learnt for him, and his friends, before anything worse happens.

All the best to your friend.

Many ppl wun have realise the mistake until they were caught. They can choose not to bother, but they will only cried and realise their mistake when they are caught.

When you drink, thats ur reponsibility. No one should be blame for, at least this is not an accident.

For job, no choice. Got to find another one. Got to be careful while you drive because to certain ppl, driving is their job.

sorry to say... its abit harsh i know.... but i feel your friend fully deserve it.

no body forced him to drink. drink driving was his choice... he could always take a cab back. no buts, ifs, or.... period...you already know the law. and yet still wanna challenge the system and "test water"...

the reason i said that he deserved it is because just how many lives were lost because of drink driving? all the drunk drivers involved would at first think, "nah, it won't happen to me..." thats when the problem starts.

victims include, little children, teenage cyclists, motorcycles, pregnant woman etc....

these victims didn't choose to get hurt or die... its the driver who choose to drink and drive.

the law is very strict, esp on drink driving and handphone usage. pls think before you do anything. no one will pity you if you get into trouble with the law or in an accident.

remember... its not only about you...

Just to share a little on this issue ,

i was once stopped at a road block 2 yrs ago along stevens road towards bt timah and PIE. That was only after shouts by the police officers because i didnt realise it was a road block , nearly ride through the road block, thought is was some accident scene.

Straight away they demanded IC and D/L and also , breathe analyser. I was freaking worried coz i just left devils bar, 20 mins after drinking 3 glasses of chivas coke, a glass of beer and another glass of bourburn coke.

I was tested yellow band and was advised by the police to drive cautiously.

Trust me, that "kena testedfor alcohol" feeling sucks, i was thinking "that's the end of world kind" coz i thought i could have ended on the red band. Perhaps due to my mint sweets or controlled blow to the analyser that gave me a 2nd chance.

Don't push your luck, it doesn't pay ... i count myself really lucky not to lose my license back then.

i have just attended court21, traffic court, recently and have seen many licenses disqualified over 12 months because of drink driving. some caught for driving without a license as a result of previous disqualification. a businessman was even thrown into jail for 6 weeks for repeated offences.

do not drink and drive!

i love dividends.

:thumb: Well said. I also think he deserves it. No point crying over spilled milk. It's his own responsibility for what he chose to do. Ask him to think about it next time and it's no joke going for another TP in future.

There's a will, there's a way

sorry, but i have no sympathy for those who drink and drive cos about 2 years a go, a cycling comrade got killed by a drunk driver near jalan bahar and that guy only got off with disqualification and 4 months of jail .imagine how his parents felt. this guy who was halfway through university and the dear son of his parents.

you know what i think. the police are actually not covering enough places. if i'm familiar with where the police are stationed i could evade the police quite easily.

I suppose so. You can try? Well... I suppose if the alcohol doesn't kill you, the fast ride will. :p

Besides I think I walk to carpark, wear helmet, start bike, already few minutes. No drink driving/riding is tolerable. Having a licence is as good as having a killing weapon, drink and drive/ride is tantamounting to fire-at-will. I'm glad your friend merely lost his licence, I'm quite sure he will be guilt-ridden for life if he killed someone in the process.

Repent for the fear of destroying someone's lives, not for the loss of the licence.

Jail is already quite serious.

I understand that NTU's cycling club is still 'banned' since the accident.

OMG. If we were going to have that much police on the roads............ :sian:

i love dividends.

i dunno how true is this claim... but i still think even if you take the BlowJob test right after you drink, you still kena if u are over the limit.

anyway, who drinks and after 5-20mins straight away drive? i mean, if you drink, most prob is mingle around for awhile if not for a few hours... usually at a party, wedding dinner, or pub/disco...

anyhow... my humble advise is still... do not try to test the system based on these claims...

we dunno how true that is...

ok.. so what if you escape the blowjob test... you still do not escape the potential of causing hurt or death to yourself and others...

as mentioned by a fellow forumer... "repent for fear of destroying someone's life (and maybe yours too), not for fear of losing your license..."

for fear of losing you license instead of fear of causing hurt or death to others, is a very selfish act i feel.

you only think about your license, but have you tot of other's life? and also yours?

the best bet is... DON"T DRINK AND DRIVE... SAVE YOUR LICENSE AND SOMEONE'S ELSE LIFE... AND MAYBE YOURS TOO.

best of both worlds.
