As topic above - best way meaning quickest and safest way if possible, ignoring ERP charges.

Time of commuting is peak hours.

I am thinking either by AYE all the way or PIE-Bukit Timah Road either way.

Thanks in advance.

i would normally take the aye - exit rochor road... if quicker then sometimes PIE then exit stevens road, bukit timah road all the way down n turn n sim lim... but peak hours ur bound by ERP city pricing...>

most direct route is AYE->CTE->Merchant Road->Eu Tong Sen Street-Hill Street-Victoria Street. cannot avoid toll though.

to avoid toll as much as possible, take commonweath ave->clementi rd->holland rd->napier road->tanglin rd->orchard rd->scotts rd->bt timah rd->north bridge rd.

thats what i would do.

Wahh... like that many traffic lights right? I dun think i want too long travelling time.

I think i had shortlisted to 2 options :

If i willing to pay ERP, is AYE-CTE-Merchant road-Bugis better or

AYE-ECP-Rochor road - bugis better?

If i want to cut travel time as much as possible but also want to reduce ERP as much as possible,

AYE-CTE-Merchant road-Bugis better or

AYE-ECP-Rochor road - bugis better?

So which way is faster? via PIE - bukit timah or via AYE - rochor road? I heard PIE more congested than AYE right?

PIE is definitely more congested man. I suggest you avoid that during peak hours. Even during non-peak hours, it can be quite packed.

To move within congested area, try bicycle. Faster, cheaper and no pollution. No problem with ERP or slow moving traffic.

No joke, try it.

I had been cycling to Bugis from Jurong. It is good exercise but i cannot cycle everyday right? I need to have my rest days.

I am thinking using MRT to travel then use my motorbike something like an "OPC" as my motorbike would need less maintenance, no ERP and i do not need to deal with peak hours traffic but if by motorbike i can save 30mins each way.

Hard to decide if i should commute by motorbike or MRT.....

But will incur additonal parking coupon when parked at car park to transfer to MRT leh. If pick up bike late, then parking might be 65cents X 2 = $1.30, per day. Wouldn't ERP make a more competitive choice when you want time savings more than monetary savings?

TS, i think this is simple. If you can afford the ERP charges and want the time savings. use highway. If you want to save money, skip motorbike altogther, park it at home, incur season parking only and use public transport fully.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

i agree.. time saving vs $ saving

taking public transport not always cheaper...all depends on the distance and number of people traveling. i realized this when i was going somewhere about 2km away. taking bike...or even car...is much cheaper than taking a bus...especially when more than 1 person traveling.

For this route during peak hours, the MRT is a good idea.

I had tried various routes and AYE - rochor is the fastest way. ERP is about $2 in total. Plus petrol is about $3.50 not including parking. Time is 30 minutes but i did not lane split. If willing to lane split and take the higher risk, should be able to reach in 20 minutes.

I had decided unless i am in rush to reach office, i should take the MRT.
