bought a kick starter from them before. it's very cheap at $10 compare to other motor shop at $30... and the bolt loosen up after a month... zzz lesson learn.

Ah boy goods come in various `quality'. U want cheap cheap, it's probably chiong one. Remember the adage, if the price is too good to be true, then, it's not genuine. Pple visit Ah Boy bec of pricing. They know they are getting Chiong stuff and don't mind. If u want genuine, u hve to tell him so.

 

I've gotten most of my stuff from Ah Boy. Some stuff turn out to be duds.....but I treat it as lesson learn. Eg, he recommend a $6 battery.....use it only for 3 mths only. Now, I buy a better quality battery which cause me $25.00 but last me minimum 2 yrs.......and it's from his shop too.

 

Do note tat he does a lot of parallel imports....so his stuff will be cheaper but.....not like 50%.

 

Like wat other forumers is saying, do ur research on the price and when u go to Ah Boy...bargain bargain bargain......same goes when at Regina too.

today is my first time going down to lab after getting my license. i heard they sell stuffs cheaper there so went down. in the end he sold the mib m24 for 40 bucks. more ex den helmetboys. helmet boy selling 39 somemore deliver to hse.super angry. they see me new jiao den tok4 me. zzzzzzzzzzz

LAB is not always cheap, morever the coustomer service is very bad. Maybe in the 90s people don't mind to visit his place to buy something from him, however thing have change. The younger generation today except more in terms of quality, price and service.

 

In the past i use to go lab to buy thing, but than his attitude really make me piss off with his. (expensive, long waiting time, and poor quality) I ever wait for 2 hr just to get my stuff done.

 

After all those trouble, I always put LAB my last choose when I am going to purchase anything.

 

Think it again.. helmet everywhere also have, $1 or $2 more never can earn back. Time lost unable to gain back. So why LAB?

But if funny pattern come out such as wrong size and long waiting time... i just take the thing and talk to ah boy personally, not in a nice way but not in a rude manner either, just in a firm manner. When the salesman see me go to ahboy already he kan chiong.... rectify the issue and give me many free gift...

 

Ah boy sister also can la... but you must tell her exactly what you want... if ask ask all this better to ask salesman.

 

P.S. Oh ya for the "cheap" issue... same strategy... go direct to ahboy... the salesman see already will say ah take take la... cos ah boy will also say the same.... ah chin chye la chin chye la!!

 

P.P.S. And if want OUTSTANDING customer service and quality of goods, go to mah motors or Motoworld and pay through the nose!

Hahaha, go LAB or Regina must do homework one.

 

One time I bought a helmet from Regina. Requested for size M, but shopkeeper gave me S. I asked him to change. After 30 minutes, he came back. I tried it on, still very tight. NB! He just stick the M sticker on top of the S sticker.

 

Last time bought horn for my LC Kia. Kenna water, spoilt after 3 days. Went back to change. He suggested another more expensive horn. NB! After 1 week sot again.

 

That's why, must do home work.

 

But I must admit, kelantan lane more happening last time. Can see all the full chrome, scorpio motosiao bikes. Nowadays, quite boring.

Want cheap, want good, hard to find.

I go to LAB when i specifically knows what I want and the approx price.

Else, it is not the time and effort to stand around the tiny counter space while waiting for your stuff.

'Customer Service' is ok to me. They are not rude, just that there are too many people.

yap.. i been their customer for a decade and it really suck in the past.. work shop was still at little india there.. so pack and so long.. out of all the mech.. keng/tua jai/hong .. they are all okay.. i only have a problem with botah.. he is the one mech with give attitide..

but for ah boy, he don like yaya customer.. so everytime i go like call him AhHh BoYyYy like calling my wife like that. haha

Actually as a customer, everyone have the right to choose which shop we wants to patronize. Of couse different shop have different selling point, maybe some people likes the way Ah boy sells his product. And some people don't like.

 

As for me, if to purchase from ah boy have to go through such trouble as what u have mension, why not I give other shop a try?

 

However, it is also not wrong if others like to purchase from ah boy, maybe some people like the bargaining process.

 

Actually motorworld product is not all expensive, it has a wide range of product. Some HJC helmet is only at $150 (full face) I personally felt that the price is resonable. Ofcourse there are also quality riding jackets and helmet which cost more, so from what i see motorworld is targeting a wide range of coustomer.

 

Most of my product was bought from motorworld, and long time have not been to Ah boy shop.. maybe some day shall drop by to take a look. hope can get something that is worth it.

ah boy like dat. u must bargain. last time his helmet seem to be alot cheaper. rs 959 now he say 110. i bought mine ard 70 last dec. hmm. gotta bargain. " chin chai chin chai" lah .haha dats wat he would say

haha i got a worse LAB first experience, after a serious accident just 2 weeks of getting my license, i wanted to get a flip up full face for protection, so i went LAB cos i heard "good price" too.

 

the auntie pointed out an unbranded flip (with PSB sommore) to me (stupid me) , and it looked cool, since i am not the haggling type i paid the stated price of 120 bucks and away i went. (stooopid mex2)

 

1 month later, as i was flipping up the helmet, the whole friggin chin bar came off. i was shocked to say the least.

 

i wasnt really angry at lab (buyer beware right?) so i decided to hunt for a HJC helemt, cos i heard they were cost effective and not bad. didnt know HJC was not brought in my LAB then so i went back there, when i asked "do you stock HJC?" the very same auntie, get this, again pointed to me the amazing failed flip up helmet, adn told me "90 bucks".

 

i just turned around and left the shop.

 

LOL, but i learnt my lesson, with LAB u have to know your prices before you buy, thats what this forum is for, to get info from other bro's and sis's to know the prices they got from other places OR lab, THEN you go to LAB and when you go there, stonewall them until you get that price or somewhere u are reasonably happy with.

 

got my current FF ogk from regina, at a price i was satisfied with.

went to ah boi to get full coverset for my bike. one of the worker there told me I had to wait for a "short while" for him to get the coverset. I was prepared for that. So I went to the opposite kopi shop and lim kopi before he appeared with the coverset 20 mins later. Moral of story, go there, must lower service expectation and prepare to deal with their shxt. I went home quite happy coz he quoted a decent price for it.. waited a while for it tho, but whatever was prepared for that.

 

You pay peanuts, you get a monkey with a slurry voice. Remember dat!

i got mine black colour for $70, which i think is still ex, cos last time i bought white evo only $60 after bargin... bottom line is, want buy stuff go straight to ah boy the man himself, dont talk to his workers, sure u will get quoted high price cos they are not the boss so cannot anyhow give discount.. Plus, even tough regina n ah boy same shop, regina sell their stuff at a slightly cheaper price, plus at regina must ask the skinny chinese guy for price, he sure give u best price one...
