I have been using it for my bike since 2011, no issues so far. Initially got it shipped from Amazon but they stopped shipping it to Sg already.

Still have 1/2 dozen in my stock.

I also tried the dino Rotella before but since T6 is just abit more expensive but longer oil change, so I went with T6.

Also got the filter from Amazon as well(Purolator pure1) as they can be shipped to Sg.

Hi guys, need some advise

Got an 2001 ST last year. Fantastic bike. After some fun rides including a trip to Hatyai, found it has a leak and went to have it check only to discover that there is an engine crack which was attended to ("plastered" by renown ST mech). But not confirmed if leak is from the crack. Am frustrated and angry cos the seller did not inform me of this. And I have a melting CDI rubber too but bike still starts and functions well. Any advise ? Thanks

In life, there are important decisions that you have to make.

I chose to ride ... And I chose to Ride Hard and Ride Safe ... On a BLACKBIRD.

Past Rides : Ali Baba (P.Ramlee period), Chopper (Disco season), BMX (ET season), Piyo-Piyo (2008-??)

When you mean "melting CDI", do you mean the thick yellowish glue like substance slowing dripping from the ICU?

If yes, then mine has the same issue for around 2-3years already & bike still runs fine, tried cleaning it away but will still comes back, no physical harm except it'll mess up the left fairing side, now I just tie a cloth on the ICU bottom and change it after few mths, at least it'll catch the gluey substances. If you don't like it, might have to buy a used ICU off from ebay or scrapyard, new ones will cost a bomb.

As for the crack, do you know where is the crack coming from on the engine? How bad is the leak?

As for the CDI melting, it seems very common. it wont stop melting. Only solution is to get a new one, but it is quite expensive. My fren took out his, sealed it with high temp sealant, but it still 'melts', so he just bo chup. So far still ok. As for engine crack, sometimes, even the previous owner also dunno if there was an issue. So really hard to say. Hope you can solve your issue. :)

Thanks Armani for the valuable response ..

I was offered a second hand CDI for 200+ which im still considering. As for the crack, the previous owner knew abt the matter as he was the who experience the whole process.. but lets skip on him.. So will re-plastering enuff to cover the crack ? if yes, any shops to recommend ? is this re-plastering equivalent to overhaul ? if yes any estimated cost ? Im still in love with the ST ..

Thanks again Armani

200+ for the CDI seems steep... I'd take my chance with ebay or even try scrapyard locally if I was to replace it.

Here's one always on m y constant watchlist, I've bought from them a used meter unit before and had good experience with them.

Good luck on your crack.

STTourer .. Forgot to thank you for the earlier advise .. pai seh pai seh

Quite relieved on the CDI now .. For the leak, its like 4 - 5 drops per day .. something like that. I have planned to do a kemaman-cameron ride this weekend. Thot of just bringing xtra engine oil n just go n settle it when i come back.

where exactly is the crack? cause i dont think re-plastering will not work on metal, re-welding will be needed by a professional.

Jellyfish, no worries about thanking here and there,we're just sharing info.

Like armani mentioned, where exactly is the crack?

My current ride also had a slow drip when I bought it 4 years ago, was kindly pissed as well.

In the end I found my leak was dued to a cracked oil pan, so bought a replacement from FJT and all was well.

If your crack/leak is from engine/cylinder wall, then I don't think plastering/welding will help due to the heat, but no harm trying.

See if you can find any shop that can perform your mend after your trip then and tahan until COE ends :)

Hi fellow ST riders,

My ignition switch died on me two days ago and left me stranded on the road with a ride that can't even start. Having it fixed now in a workshop. Was told that it'll be an additional key for me. Any idea how I can get a full set of key lock assembly that includes the side panniers?

Sad to say that it'll be difficult to get a full set of key lock if you replace only the ignition, will have to spend alot to change out the whole complete set(ignition, panniers, seat latch, fuel false cover), not sure if it's worth the $$$...

If you can live with a 2nd key, I'd advise save the $$$ for other stuff you need.

I had the same bad experience similar to you, my current ride was almost stolen in JB few yrs ago, those low lives SOB wacked my ignition till key hole deformed, lucky I managed to short/jumper the wires and ride back home else will be a big dent in my pocket to tow back Sg. At that time no new ignition swtich avail from FJT, so had to source a 2nd hand one from shop. Now I have 2 keys, 1 for ignition, another for rest of the bike :)

CDI is common issue. I did re-seal it on my 1993 model and the leak stops. Only the crack or oil leak you need to becareful. If only CDI leak, get a spare with you when go touring. Mine was leaking and I went MHS alone so not much of an issue. As for your key issue. Maybe the locksmith beside Regina can do magic.... My friend ever lost his keys for 3 boxes. They are using different keys. The auntie was able to make a master key for the 3 boxes. No harm going there and let them have a look...

Let's just ride....

I AM BACK!!!!!
