Im planning to report to IDAC first then maybe tomorrow or so then i go planet? Or if i have no choice i will have to go unique motorsports because they close at 8pm and still able to rush there..

Glad to hear that u are ok.........just go and claim.......

Glad to hear you are alright. I am going to start riding soon and I'm thinking of getting some protection too. FF, jacket, gloves and maybe boots. I see that link you posted for that jacket looks like a windbraker. No offence but that really does not look like it's going to protect you on the road.

Does anyone have any good recommendations for FF and armour and prices?

How about an Air-tex Airbag Jacket? FF u can try HJC, still got promo i think

How about an Air-tex Airbag Jacket? FF u can try HJC, still got promo i think

Bought an RS Taichi jacket for $180 from Motoworld yesterday. Liked the looks and was not too warm. Only light protection against rain. For heavier showers will either wait under shelter or wear raincoat if must ride.

Saw they had the HJC FF under promo $150 / $100 with trade-in old helmet. But Motoworld did not have stock of the black solid color which is the only one I fancy. Anywhere else got this promo?

I saw this pair of Gortex riding boots which were going for $200 but I found them uncomfortable especially when going walking / shopping. Any recommendations?

Finally, I'm looking for carbon fibre mesh gloves that don't look bulky. The ones I saw at Motoworld with the knuckle protectors all looked like goalkeeper gloves.

Well, never thought that I'd have to post here as well.

But yesterday got my first kiss from a taxi as well.

Was at suntec roundabout, three lanes - i was on left lane, taxi was at the middle lane. lane 3 (left lane) is left plus going straight only... Taxi cut from middle lane to the left as he wanted to exit. He thought he could make it, and cut, but i think last minute tried to stop as he saw me.

I horned and accelerated preferring to avoid a head on collision as his taxi was like straight in front of me, as i pass him, he clipped my rear, sending the bike slightly airborne and losing control as it landed. I hit the tarmac and the bike hit the ground.

After that, called tow truck.

SO just a reminder to all, it's not about how badly the bike is damaged, or can claim or not, the first and foremost thing is to be able to walk away, this one must truly thank God cause I landed like 50 cm, away from another entry road to the roundabout.

We did exchange particulars , soo will wait and see how it goes.

Ride safe on this hazy friday afternoon all

=) yeap, roundabouts are kill zones i agree....

And settled privately, today went down to bike shop to settle payment and all, should be able to get my bike back today =) Repaired $292, mainly the box and rack was badly damaged, along with mirror, fending, signal light, towing, and labor (they heard the word 'taxi' and out came the cleavers, but I persuaded them to go easy as the taxi was at least honest and willing to help)

Took the train to work today and I got a 'culture shock'. So it's thankful that all I have to do is to take a bus from work to alexandre to pick up from work shop.

But technically do i have to report to anybody about the accident?

don need, but best to sign black and white with the taxi driver that the both of you agreed to a private settlement. that way is to protect you incase that taxi driver choose to report to insurance company to claim your insurance.

yes...

report to your insurance company for record purposes...not for claims..

thus in case you are sued...the insurance will take care of it....

black and white is tricky..you need to defend yourself if there is any claim..

yes like wad ezzoiler said do report it for recording purposes, my insurance company told me to go the the comfort delgro at braddell (forget if it's idac or wad) to report it and police report, even thou i were to claim against him or not, coz he might just twist his story to claim u instead, did u take photos of wad happened to ur bike? u will need it for reporting...

Oh no pictures, after the accident I actually forgot the SOP for accidents, adraneline rush...

But managed to draft out a settle form and we both signed it, after Friday, we met at bike shop and he settled the repairs outstanding amount, we signed another Notice of Agreement...

And oh, sorry for the late reply, I called my insurance but they said if private settlement (which they said technically not allowed, apparaently all accidents must report), so I said, but I do not wish to pursue since its resolved, they said okay, then will monitor for 2-3 weeks to see if any claims from the taxi's side.

But in anycase, thank you all very much for your advice.

Hi guys, this morning i made with an small accident that i skidded my bike, though little injuries, my bike handle bar alighment went off.

After getting it fix, i rode home, on e way back, e rain was heavy, as i come to a stop at traffic light, my bike skidded again..lucky i manage to keep it out, so nth happen.

As i rode hme, i was going like 60km/h. But my back feels weird, like of skidding de feel, my rear tyre seems like of skidding at times, which made me worried.

I like to ask you guys for help, what could be the possible problem i faced here?

Rear tyre problem which cause me to feel like skidding or psychological factor. zzz

Is there any way to know my tyre is in bad condition after i fall?

Machine fault: Go see your threads on the tyre, are they deep/shallow?

Human error: You might be stepping too hard on the rear brake. Phantom is back heavy, plus it's using disk brake, so the back will fishtail/skid if too much brake is applied suddenly. Even with good tyre, also will skid if rear brake is suddenly jammed on.

1. What tyre are you using?

2. How old is your bike? Riding Experience?

Get your handlebar alignment fixed, take a few days off the ride, then ride on a normal day, see if you get that feeling again.

did u jux pump up ur tyres? cux there was this period wen i tot of trying higher tire pressure... i tink it was 250... cornering was great, but the price to pay, SKIDDING! i skidded like 3 time in a day.. straight away i go n reduce d pressure.. jux my experience.. :)

Yes, the handling will change quite drastically at various tyre pressures!

After some heavy duty house moving the tyre pressures went down to like 130/160 causing a feeling like riding on big plush pillows but the bike feels like it's going to fall over at any time while cornering! 200 is a happy balance.

Overinflation reduces the tyre contact patch on the road. But saves a bit of fuel... so find a compromise between handling and traction.

Engineering speculation - the long wheelbase may play a part. Rear braking force induces an "upward" torque on the back due to deceleration of a forward spinning mass and weight transfer. This is magnified by the pivot point (front axle) being very far ahead making the combined effect quite obvious when doing emergency braking over slick surfaces!

Personal experience - if the tyre locks up suddenly the feeling is the Phantom sliding forward with a grating sound never losing speed. RELEASE the brake immediately to prevent a skid, gently but rapidly re-engage braking once traction is regained. Manual ABS?

On slippery conditions I try not to rely on the rear brake for slowing down. Early braking is always preferred... so don't go too fast especially in rush hour situations. Cars at 90kph can suddenly slow to 20kph without warning.

Agreed just to add on in wet weather too... Especially so, lesser friction + long wheel base + wet road = one disisaster for high speed...

Lol I bought my first FF helmet today. Feels like a whole new riding experience! Very quiet and little sense of wind (HJC aerodynamics are superb!)

I was actually going much slower, at no more than 70kph and following the small lorries because the smaller viewport means I have to do double my due diligence checking mirrors, blind spots, even if I didn't have to. Thankfully the other drivers understood and gave me plenty of space!!

ps: Thread relevance - it was very wet too so I went slowly. No point taking risks in the wet.
