Really need some URGENT help from all u guys. I intend to get a brand new TDM. Care to share ur experience with me?

Who owns a 1st hand TDM 900 and have been riding until now? What is the major problem u encounter? What is the mileage clock on ur bike until now? How many years have u been riding on the TDM? Where u travel to? Longest distance?

Need to ask some question here:

1) What is the fuel tank capacity for the latest TDM 04 model?

2) How much is the Insurance per year? (I'm 30 now)

3) How much is the roadtax per year?

4) Average maintence fee?

5) What is the longest distance travel after pumping full tank?

6) Ur bike ever break down in the middle of the road? What the problem?

7) What is the current resale value of a 2nd hand TDM?

8) Do u advice to purchase a TDM???

9) Pro and Cons to own a TDM?

:help: :help: :help: :help: :help:

Pls kindly post here. I desperate to purchase the bike. Thanks Alot!!! :lovestruck:

New TDM owners as far as I know are Baracuda and Victor.

Maybe some of the others can help too... I only been riding a 2nd hand (TDM900 '02) one for abt 1-2 months.

btw, aint u riding a Diversion or a FJR? I seem to recall your nick from one of those threads?

Some info i can share about mine....

fuel tank - total 20L, reserve 3.5L

consumption - abt 24km/l (read previous posts.)

longest distance travelled before i pump - 435km. (in SG, highway 90%)

my insurance - tpft 630 (zero NCD)

my roadtax - 290/yr (i think)

my age - 28

topspeed tried - 180 (w/ topbox, w/o pillion)

engine heat in SG road - np as long as u r moving.

(fan on twice while I was in bad queue to enter shopping center parking and while in jam at woodland customs.)

exhaust heat - SUPER FAWKING HOT! Ask my calves.

What I like best about this bike is

its handling. (not too heavy for me) except when trying to park mainstands.. hahahaa. (lighter than Vstrom, ATs, BMs, T.Tiger)

its sitting posture. (relaxed and high for viewing far)

its fuel consumption. (champion!)

No advise from me except (not qualified)

- you have to sit on them to really decide when buying. (ergonmics factor)

- dun rush when buying.

i bought a new TDM900 in Jul'02 n still riding it. try reading thru this threads for more infor.

1) tank capacity for '02-'04 model all same same at 20L

2) Insurance for me is ~$420 (32yr w / 20%ncb)

3) roadtax...???think its below $300...???

4) maintence fee? don't understand wat u mean. Btw normal svc. for 10,000km is just 4L of full syn oil. (4x$20=$80)

5)went to esso this morning and pump in 17.16L of syn5000(Ron95) with metre reading at 456.00km (if u use Ron98 mileage will be lower ~24km/L)

6) my bikes ~2yo & it has never had any problem.

7) TDMs don't have a regular kind of market. looking at the last known transaction for a end'02 TDM900 was 12K for machine only.

8) yap! personnally find it just right for own road.

9) mmm.........

10) my metre shows 222km/h when hits the e-cut at 8k rpm.

11) hot? a little if u caught in a queue. but compare to other litre bikes i would say its still quiet cool:cheeky:

Really need some URGENT help from all u guys. I intend to get a brand new TDM. Care to share ur experience with me?

Of course can. U can find more details to your questions by reading the earlier posts. Now is just a short summary from some of us :thumb:

Who owns a 1st hand TDM 900 and have been riding until now?

Me lor

What is the major problem u encounter?

Nothing yet. Noticed some coolant leak near coolant pump during 1st 1000km but its cured now. HL reassured me that it will be replaced under warranty if it happens.

What is the mileage clock on ur bike until now?

2500km

How many years have u been riding on the TDM?

1.5 yrs on a TDM850 and 1 month on the TDM900

Where u travel to?

All around SGP, plus JB and round trip to Rompin

Longest distance?

Ard 500km at a go (with fuel stops)

Need to ask some question here:

1) What is the fuel tank capacity for the latest TDM 04 model?

02,03,04 TDM900 and even the TDM850 is 20L

2) How much is the Insurance per year? (I'm 30 now)

Dunno, I'm 28 & I'm paying ard 1.2k for Comprehensive with ANDA

3) How much is the roadtax per year?

$290

4) Average maintence fee?

Very normal and very similar to most bikes, engine oil (4bottles) , spark plugs (2), tyres, chain sprockets, brake pads.

5) What is the longest distance travel after pumping full tank?

24km/L = 480 (Based on calculation) I've tried ard 415km

6) Ur bike ever break down in the middle of the road? What the problem?

Never had a breakdown on both my 850 and 900

7) What is the current resale value of a 2nd hand TDM?

Very rare bike in the open market. Unlike super4s where there is kinda market value. It all depends on the seller/buyer neg. To me I dun believe in the market value thing for the TDM.

8) Do u advice to purchase a TDM???

Yes if you believe all we have said so far :) No one here is forcing you or convincing u to get one. So do your own research and get 2nd opinions from ur other biker friends. They may have other suggestions for you. The TDM may not suit everyone's taste. Go for a bike u r comfortable with and you must like it too..not becoz others say its good or nice.

9) Pro and Cons to own a TDM?

Reasonably capable and all round Class 2 bike. Fuel Economy. Light weight. Versatile in the looks department. (Can be a stock street bike or loaded up for touring). Punchy engine.

Lack of a little more high end. Many people mistake it for a vara125. New bike is very stock and dealers don't throw in some essential accessories. Mainstand is standard on the fazer1k and FJR but not the TDM :( . Alot of things to mod and = $$$

10) What is the topspeed of this bike?

Never tried it yet coz still running in. With my current 6k rpm limit, I can go ard 160km/h.

11) Is the engine hot when travelling in SG road?

Nope to my standards. Its pretty cool in fact compared to my previous ducati monster. Its slightly hot now on my TDM coz using mineral oil. After changing to fully syn after my run in, it will be cooler.

mileage don't really mean much on a 2nd tourer 'cos the owner may use it just on local road thus mileage maybe low but who knows if he 'whack' the engine or not; if the owner travel's up north often then the mileage surely high lah but ppl who travel alot likely show more care to his bike. 'cos no one would wan his bike to break while travelling north, right:confused:

i just realised recently that the AT has 4 plugs; just like the deauville and transalp

maybe the tdm should have 4 also...then with the 5 valve per cylinder; it would be super efficient!!!

wat am i toking...

i dun even know much about how combustion takes place!!!

must be the fried rice i just ate.

You have travelled to places others have not ventured....You read books that others have never heard of....You see humour in unusual places. And you've always gone your own way. Why, then, should you ride a bike that's like all the rest?

when you travel, you experience, in a very practical way, the ART of reBIRTH

if efficiency = better fuel consumption, better power then

no one will be riding other bikes anymore..... hahaha...

Damn, I had fried rice too.... o_O

i think the TDM is an excellent choice for Singapore roads...

plush enough to cope with all the dug-up roads and humps, 1 of the lightest class 2 bikes, can fit a top box without spoiling the look, got some wind protection, good acceleration, front brakes from R1 (at least it looks that way)...

i want 1 man... its a cult bike.

Be sure, not slow.
