Saw lots of BMWs at M-technik when i was down fixing my mainstands. Checked out those mudguards and found that the whole piece also covers the shaft drive and its attached very close to the rim. no where near the outer sides of the swing arms as i tot... PML also advised that it cannot be fixed on other bikes. Said that if it could be done, someone would have done it long time ago......

sigh.....

What about those on the F650? They are mounted on the regular swingarm.

heyo people. have been thinkin of changin to touring bike. cause ofsome reasons. reading alot of forum stuff n decided with yamaha. know tat tdm fuel consumptin quite good n the maintenace for yamaha ok one. but most impt i upgrade to class 2 due to touring so could some one advice me on the wond protectn or anything to advise me upon n 1 more and 2nd hand tdm at shops??? u people seen?

thanks alot :cheeky:

Hi kish_garfield and glad to hear that the TDM interests you. Straight to the point to ur Qs

Wind Protection: Some like the original short windscreen like solo who likes a constant supply of fresh air. I am using a +200mm eagles screen and keeps the windblast off my chest and visor. Windflow will start to increase above top of my visor but no buffeting. Using a arai tourcross. Some say it looks high but when I am on my TDM, I look over it. The height is at my mouth level. The TDM is not luxo tourer like the K12LT or goldwing, so dun expect such wind protection even with a tall screen. Just being realistic here.

You can find all answers u need to know by browsing the thread. If there are any other Qs, you can alway post here.

Since most of us here already owns a TDM, I doubt we would be going to shops to search for TDMs. But will post if we happen to come across any.

All the best for ur TDM hunt!:cheer:

recently rided my frenz TDM.... handling is good... n light... but diff bikes suits diff pple..... tink it suit ur small size...

but i nid sumthing bigger... overall TDM is a very good all rounder... no regrets if one choose to buy it.... but size does matters... hehehee...

anyway TDM at Dili abit probz.... nearli bought it... dats wot i mean by good luck... pls dun "live-fire" at anyone b4 understanding the story... pple might be offended.. :nono: we try ot mke frenz.. not enemies..

dat time i was still lukking for a TDM.. when a better offer came... so y not?? u wun know wot is the best for u unless u try rite??

im quite happy wif moi ST, thank you... but itz manouverability aint fantastic..... though the comfort is superd compared to TDM n wun get burnt... oh well.. when one is not rich as u... one cun be a chooser rite???

I totally agree with larry. Perhaps u can be more sensitive when posting such comments here. Outlook 'may' not look like a showroom bike but you can't be dead sure about its internals and declare it's got problem. Think u r the one who started the 'live-fire'.

U undergrad student can afford to buy new super4 and now a ST11 oso not bad wah. Can I label u rich as well? So please dun anyhow let go who rich and so on oso lah... When we all want something, we sure will find ways and means to get the $ to get it. (Work and save or something)

We'r not gonna start a who's bike is better or not here. ST is a very capable bike & I have many frens who are riding it. I enjoy riding with them too. I like my TDM for what it is and am happy with it.

i apologise to ashen for wat i have posted above.

for your info, i'm neither petty nor a busybody person like wat you mentioned.

but still, from my point of view, next time if you happened to post anything like this please think twice. not only you will cause the party whom have bought over the bike to be angry but you defintely will cause some stir in this thread.

Why would you think it is less reliable? I've owned a 850 before and its as reliable as the 900. Never gave me problems, starts on the 1st press of the ignition. Try to scroll back on earlier posts on my comments on the 850.

Petrol consumption for my 850 varies from 18-20km/l

Maintainance would be the same as the 900 roughly. Nothing special, normal wear and tear parts, consumables and carb cleaning/tuning.
