Yamaha TDM 900

Updates on TDM900 princing from my visit to HL this afternoon. Hope it can benefit some of you who are like me making the all important decision to get a new TDM900

2004 TDM900 Stocks are in already. Can collect bike within 2 weeks of COE bidding which happens twice a month. Coming COE bid is 6 to 9 June

Whats new in the 2004 TDM900?

1) Immobilisor feature that is similar to Honda's HISS technology.

2) Some internal tweaks in the engine as claimed by Mr Lee but not sure what exactly it is.

3) 'White' steel chain instead of the 'Black' chain. So its supposed to be better as claimed by Mr Lee.

4) Metzler Z6 tyres will be fitted in japan only after current stocks of TDM900s are sold. Current tyres are either 020s or Z4s. Only know when crate is opened. Anyway cannot choose oso.

5) 3 colour schemes: Galaxy blue, Blue Stone (Both are also 2003 colours) And the all new diamond black with all black frame & steering yoke (like the new R1)

Price

OTR inclusive of Reg, 6 months road tax, IU & Bracket & GST (No other hidden cost) $17100

COE & Insurance not included

Free 1000km and 3000km servicing including parts and lubricants.

No freebees like mainstand or panniers but Mr Lee say can give good discounted price. (Anyway he himself rides a TDM900)

Min 30% downpayment of OTR price

COE & Insurance can pay cash or added into OTR price

5% interest per annum

Advised to get insurance ourself or HL will get 3 quotes from ANDA, NTUC and Mitsui and give you the lowest quote. Up to you coz some ins like NTUC will give u loyalty discounts if you have a policy with them, so will be cheaper.

So working out the maths

Upfront cash payment involved

30% Downpayment $5130

COE assume $800

Insurance assume $1200 for 1st party

Total = $7130

3 year loan at 5%

Balance of $11970 X 1.15

= $13765.68 / 36months

= $382.38 per month

Yup thats all, so if anyone is intersted to buy, better go together. I believe can bargain the price lower if we buy together.

Biting on the fray of my hair, I muse upon the way to find the oasis of evermore beyond the vertical horizon, I shall join the windupdeads in owl city, neither my safetysuit nor my red jumpsuit apparatus can save me, cuz I mistook a death cab for cutie in plain white T's...

Mr Lee say can go 4% but got gimmics one...like agreement fee etc... the 5% he claims is as per what I calculated above, no more no less. So you will be paying extra of $1795.78 in interest for a loan of 3 yrs. I guess we need to sit down and calculate if the 4% interest plus the agreement fee is still much cheaper or there may be more hidden cost. I really dunno.

Same here, I thought the downpayment can be like 20% or something. Anyway the good thing is that the installments are cheaper in the long run if you pay more deposit. A stock TDM is pretty decent as well, no need much mods. Comics00 is running a pretty much stock TDM except for a tall screen and he loves it still.

What you want to add is up to you really so what actually do you need? Lets analyse ya?

Tall screen (A$120) (Quoted by Eagle screen)

Yamaha Tall screen $300+ (refer to comics00 post)

Yamaha panniers $1600

H&B Junior 40l with rack $950 (Quoted by M-Technic)

Yamaha Mainstand $300+

H&B Mainstand $250-$280 (Quoted by M-Technic)

BMW R1150 Handguards $150 (Estimated @ PML)

Yamaha Crash bar (Dunno price - got 2 types)

H&B Crash bar (Forgot to ask that day)

Chua Oiler $30

Scott oiler $120+ (Ard there I think)

Yamaha belly pan (Dunno price)

Headlight protector $45-$50+ (depend on brand)

Those who know exact prices please update ok?

have been wanting to get a tdm but when i saw a V-Strom at ubi yesterday, i realised its quite a beauty too. now i really dunno wat to get.

any advises, anyone?

Vtrom is a nice bike too. R u refering to the 650 or 1000? I did a comparision myself and found out that the vstrom has only 5mm more ground clearance than a TDM although it looks very offroadable. TDM900 ground clearance is 160mm. The seat height of the TDM is 825mm compared to 820mm for the DL650 and 840mm for the DL1000. So depends on your height to see which suits you more. Vstrom1000 is more ex than a TDM900 while I find the DL650 very affordable but underpowered. Seems like you getting a new bike. Tough choice eh?

We are no insurance agents. You better go down to motor shops or commercial agency (5 jalan besar, #04-01/02, Ong Ban Hong Leong Building, Tel 63373133) and ask them for a quote personally. Thats the most accurate and u get the insurance done on the spot. 10min job if no queue.

So whose TDM did you get? or from shop? Is yours a 2002 model?

The 3 official 2002 TDM900 colours are VDBMA (Very Dark Blue Metallic A)--> Looks very much like black (casio's TDM), S3 (Silver 3)-->comics00 & apogez's TDM and RYC1 (Reddish Yellow Cocktail 1)--> the bright yellow TDM at Dili.

2 days is a short time. It'll be over very soon. :cheer: for another TDM owner!
