I just got my TDM, thank you PBS for riding over and handing yr baby for me to take care.

Started my virgin Ride this morning, nice and slow. Warmed her up for 5mins then started to ride abit...engine initially kept cutting off (when i cut throttle) at the stop line for the first 10mins of ride...gave me a scare because a bus was accelerating behind me...after 15mins of riding, engine was sufficiently warm and it didn't cut off anymore.

Engine, smooth very powerful, way better than my 125cc I was riding previously. I like the growl the parallel twin makes especially with the Twin Alu Leo Vince...

Overtaking and changing lanes was fast and safe, engine was able to accelerate to sufficient speed unlike my 125cc when i had to drag the throttle.

The MRA vario touring screen was very effective but somehow i don't know how it did it, but my visor was vibrating like someone stuck a vibrator on my visor...this happened at 90km/h...maybe i'll adjust the screen to make it direct the air higher..

ok quick summary; Bike experience so far, I love this bike, balance and riding position is comfortable. My first class 2 bike and I'm quite happy with her so far except for the low idling which it tends to cut off...that one i will bring to workshop. PBS I will wash her up and I probably wont make her white anymore...she looks good as she is. Thanks for making my class 2 bike dream possible bro.

Anyways look to you guys for advice maybe over kopi when someone organize. :)

Welcome to TDM family, Bro !!! ...

First you should try the air box mod mention... Much easier...

If the condition still remain the same, try AJ mention, quite a hand-on job...

But I foresee, you need this treatment...

which RPM... depends on riding style... when i first get the bike, i change gear at 2.5~3k RPM. now.. 4~5k, depends on traffic condition..

Racers like Ansmania change gear at 6k rpm...

and for DIY, it's just to get to know ur bike... you can ask hong leong or any mech, they can do also..

we used to have orgy DIY sessions, but now dying away...

Me started with 4~5K, but after seeing Thomas mileage = 430km have not even blink... NB...

Then I try to change at 2.5~3k, mileage become better from 280km to 310km (reserve blinking)...

But now change gear = mood.... Just enjoy the ride... Hack it...

Unless any guru here can enlighten me...

Unless you are a DIY person yourself, with a service manual at hand, proper tools and a covered location, you can DIY quite easily. Otherwise buy some of the experienced TDM owners coffee and learn to do it together. Workshops may not do the mods for you especially HL. For a start, start reading all the technical TDM forums especially the jbx one. Once you think you are confident, then go ahead. Have a go removing the side panels to access the air box. That should be quite easy.

Thanks Kmax! has anyone done these? I know AJ and Takehow did the cleaning of the idling regulator, has anyone done this airbox mod?

Most have done the air mod... But as for the cleaning of the idling regulator, my advise is try not to touch it unless you have the symptom (in your case, might be)...

You won't go wrong one lah, its the one and one "thing" there... But to get there, you have to go through high and low, with the right tools will be easier...

To me DIY is not about cost saving, but to get to know the bike better and of course the sense of satisfaction... At the end of the day, whole hand cover in dirt and grease... Errr...

You get even more satisfaction when you feel more torque! Enjoy your new ride and welcome to e TDM family:thumb:

Sound like the same issue when I'm riding ST11 and x9 years back. Very irritating as if like someone pushing on your forehead and have to keep fighting back. It will be worse if you go high speed / touring, very tiring.

You need to adjust the right height of your wind screen or your seat height to let the wind pass over/correct area. Not directly onto your forehead.

Luckily my TDM don't have this issue as Asphalt has raise the seat height and a nice aftermarket screen...

I'm not a wrench monkey... I'm an advocate of not DIY-ing. As much as I do not try to ct my own hair... I can if i want, I've known a few friends who cut their own hair. But for certain things, I believe it's better to pay a professional to do it..
