And according to Mac the silver frame purportedly has more power.. Hahaha!! Got to trust him on this since he owns both models. :)

Glenn... U ride too little. Hahaha!! My daily mileage is almost 60km to & fro work.

My daily mileage is only about 25km to & fro work inclusive of sending and fetching my wife... Low mileage but long slow ride as usually stuck in the jam...

Haha.. Mine is 3 years plus plus and its 101,000km liao.. Hahah!

Ups la...

There's actually 2 'models', 2002 model with silver frame and the later black frame model (I think '06?). The black frame model also comes with white dials & immobiliser. Both looks identical otherwise.

Well... U can't judge an used bike by its age or even mileage as it all depends on previous owners' level of care. Mine is 9yrs old with around 108K km on the odo but frankly it runs well without any fuss. And those who knows can attest that the twin parallel is very hardy and plenty of usable torque. But if u are after SPEED on msia road, the TDM might not be your cuppa tea as the comfort speed is around 150kph. Anything above 160kph on this (or any) tourer would be a handful. If u crave for constant speed of 180kph or above, a sports tourer like GTR, FJR or ST13 might be better.

thks for your input :thumb: might need something to have a comfort speed of ard 160-170... ride safe all!

Ya lo.. That's why now I ask if u would be looking elsewhere where would u look.. Haha..

The bike pick up from low gear is vey good.. But when in high gear cant make it gain speed faster.. Example is like yesterday I was cruising at 150kmh.. I wanted to over take a car so I down gear and rev up.. But the speed still crawls up pretty slowly.. Not like fazer where u jus crack the throttle and it shoots.. Haha.. That's the pulling power I talking about..

I changed to a fazer.. The power diff is huge.. But I miss the relax posture of the TDM.. And also the linear torque curve of the TDM..

yea man.. the diff is definitely significant.. and i agree with u about the relax posture.. its much more comfortable riding on a tdm than a fazer for both rider and pillion for long rides..

Guys....

I have this more annoying than critical issue with my (front) brakes. Whenever i depress gentlely to slow down at low speed, the front braking is always intermittent. But when i depress more and/or when travelling at higher speed and depress harder, the front brakes are working fine.

I had encountered warped discs before and the symptom is whenever brake is depressed it will 'vibrate'. It seems that my brake pump is not working in 100% condition rather than my 'MIC front discs' failing on me. Of course this is my own deductions.

Previously I had a problem with my front brake pump as it was very hard and have to depressed very hard to get the brakes working. End up went to Meng Tong and he just spray some chain lube at the 'pump nozzle' at the lever because it was only a case of dirt accumulate there. :p

I know the easiest way is to send the bike for a checkup but just want to solicit some views before sending it in.

You better check you brake pump / service it.... Might be the rubber gasket ageing liao... Thomas ask for me from AutoM, it cost $140+++ for the 2 x front and 1 x rear brake... Oucchh...

My 8 years already hit 180,000km. Average fuel consumption is about 21~23km/l. Top speed hit 215km/h. Currently my tdm is on major service because I decided to keep it.

Well.... If based on age & mileage, I suppose reptile's is highest. Hahaha!! 3yrs+ old with 101k. Based on linear calculation by the time it reaches Leong's bike age will be 245K on the odometer. Hahahahahaa!!

Mine is not fierce.. I added rox risers and changed to another riser bar so my back will not break..
