any recommended engine oil to use for our tdm?

Hi casio,

Engine oil soo farr, based on my usages and experiences, I have tried Mobil1(silver)fully syn very good, castrol RS fully syn very good, now latest trying out recommended by wkshp 'Repsol' fully syn so far Very good...2mths in using still felt the same...VG.

Try to change the oil around 6000km to 7000km because of our climate codition. Actually this oils, you can drag up to 8000km if we are in Europe...

Isit? I was behind them when going to the custom... I was busy checking their TDM out when I stepped on the wrong gear and my engine stalled. Nearly kanna run over by a bus! Anyway, that's my first time going to JB for petrol.. haha the traffic is chaotic! Kanna bully by other bikes when queueing for the custom.

The TDMs are actually just infront of me.. end up disappearing in the front..me still stuck behind..haha

Why don't you go after peak hours.... so you wouldn't be bully mar!!!

I usually go after those peak hours...save time and less wear n tear also air is fresher too....right!!!

Actually there is this number you can call to check the custom traffic before you go...you want the number???

to those aspiring TDM owners....

we can only say so much based on our PERSONAL experience;

in the end, it's you who will be riding it!

my advise is to hop on the bike...if possible ride and THEN DECIDE whether you wan to buy the TDM...

it's designed to suit most bikers temperament; good slow speed control, not too high seats, parellel twin engine(that behaves like a vtwin(has the torque) but vibrates like a inline4(less vibration compared to a vtwin)-so i my opinion, the engineers were trying to get the best of both worlds....

if you were to ask me what i hate/wish can be improved about the bike(tdm850)

-out dated exhaust pipes! and it's damn heavy

-ugly looking exhaust pipes! like MILO KONGS

-engine sounds rough(like a ducati) but it's personal preference anyway

-not enough wind protection for the serious tourer...

Joe

ashenZ -

1) got mine at loois but don't see anymore TDMs there.

2) yes, i'm using it. (52+40+40 litres)

3) sit on it to try. we have similar weight and height. don't know about pillions

4) give the shops a call for quote

apogez - which shop you got your LEDs? i can only find ultra bright LEDs, bought 2 to test and was quite disappointed (driving them at 12v 20ma).

1.) which are the shops dat sells TDM and which one offers the best deals and after sales service??? (i see lots goin to Dilli... does it sells TDM n service it?? wotz the address??)

Casio: Most of the bigger players carry TDM with them. But if you are looking for a used bike, you can consider the yellow tdm at Dili. I'm not sure what's the address but it's located at Ubi. It's not on the same row with Motor Sales. Just go and recce the place and you sure will find it. But because it's not a very popular bike like super 4, you may not be able to find one on their showroom. They will order if you are interested.

2.) Can TDM be fixed wif GIVI wing rack???? I heard a few buying the Hepco n becker side panniers... Wotz the volume of the panniers n price?? does it comez wif brackets??

Casio: I'm currently using Givi Maxia 52litres. I didn't go for side panniers because it's very clumsy for Spore traffic. The ass will be too wide for the squeezing thru cars. If traffic jam and under hot sun, good luck. Still, that's me.

3.) im about 90kg and 172cm tall.... am i able to fit on a Tdm 900... in terms of travelling n touring wif pillion??? issit too tall for mi??

Casio: I'm 178cm. No problem with the height. Weight is just nice too. Touring with pillion? well it depends on how fast you want to go. practically a nice smooth bike.

4.) wot is the price for new TDM900 and insurance for mi (24yrs old)

Casio: Heard is abt $18000. Not sure. Better check with the shop.

Anyway, the above is just my observation. No intent to cause any inconvenience to others.

Opps.. forgot to add that i paid $953 for tpft insurance with NTUC. I'm 26yrs. So you can guess how much would it cost for a 24 year old. Should be another 200 bucks more i think. :goodluck:

In case you interested, the yellow tdm at Dili is going for $12K. FV9 something.

Cheers

yo,

got mine at JCW.... Basement level.

Quite Ex for a white LED. 3 buck for a 5mm and 2 buck for 3mm.

But i paid 50 cents each

bought a total of 50 LED 3mm. Maybe i can sell you some at the cost price.

Btw, 12v is way too high for 2 LED. Gonna fry them.

White and blue LED have a operating voltage of 3-4.5v

other colour is about 2-3v.

Think i spoilt my pilot light. Pressed too hard into the casing and after heard a "tick" sound, the pilot light not working anymore. haiz... think the connection behind must have come loose. waiting for a off day to work on it

Lesson learnt....

FYI, me using 220ohm resistor with 2 LED connected in series. and a total of 8 series

Casio viewed the tdm at dili, its condition is mentioned in previous post.

Wind protection wise, please dun expect it to be like the goldwing or st1100. Almost cannot feel the wind kind. The aftermarket screens will help deflect wind blast on ur chest mainly. You still get wind on the top part of helmet. Buffetting and turbulence is quite subjective on different riders, each have their own screen height/type preference.

Join us when we meet to view all different types of screens (No TDMs in our gp has the same one- all different height or brand) Also pannier systems-various types used. You got to decide what best fits ur budget and what appeals to your eyes.

Hepco panniers will set u back for ard $800-$900 depending on ur bargaining skill at biketech21 for a set (Rack + panniers only) Junior series come in 40L and 30L. The larger one can fit a FF but not the smaller one.
