don't know if you guys experienced this problem before but recently my bike feels like it has a loss of power, especially during pick up and also my engine heats up real quick. For example, a simple ride from yishun to hougang at 3am in the morning, when i reach hougang, engine is hot and fan turns on. my engine will never be hot in such short rides especially at night in the past.

could it be because my air filter and carb needs to be washed and re-tuned? cause its been a while since i last did it, about 6000km ago? because air filter dirty, not enough air is present for combustion, thus leading engine to work even harder and thus the heating problem? i just changed all my coolant hoses and water pump about 6 months ago, coolant was also flushed around a month ago. so i doubt its leaking.

hope you bros can help me with this. dont want to bring to shop anyhow kena chop. oh ya im riding a ver s. thanks a lot! :)

Bro I also encounter this issue...

engine was v hot and the fan always on even after a short ride at night...

the problem was the themostat

not cheap abt $100+

i changed a new one and the engine was as cool...

Hope this solved ur problem...

No prob bro. I have only dismantled the headlight a few times. I only remember the H4 connector for the headlight. Does your headlight work?

If it works then this might not be the connector which is unplugged.

Is it in the headlight or outside the headlight near the meter area?

Yeap, headlight working and the plug is outside the headlight, near the meter area, dunnoe whats that..

Hey bro j_tan49, thks for the views, and yeap, its a hybrid s4. I think if the bike is built for training purposes, than i shudnt grunt alot about the power of the bike. The bike suits me fine, only that, curiousity makes me wanna try n feel how it is like to go at 180km/hr or more..hehe. I tot it will be the same as the rest of the s4 out there. But since it is from Boon Siew, than i might drop by the shop and ask more about this hybrid s4 of mine and clear any doubts...anyways, the engine of the bike is still v.good though...anyways, what happen to the s4 guru, Ah Pek? whatever it is..get well soon bro..n thks again for the kind response bros.:)

Hi guys, just updating my FC after Ah pek's EO change. After EO change, FC for the first tank was at 24.4km/L. Now into the second tank. will update again.

before the EO change, FC was about 22-23km/L.

THANKS Ah pek. and Get well soon =)

I need some help on this:

I am having difficulty shifting up/down from 2nd to 3rd AND 3rd to 4th gear. What happens is that the gear will not engage.

Any idea why this happens? Really sucks cos I cannot accelerate properly without shifting gears efficiently!

(And engine oil I jus changed, clutch plates not slipping)

is it normal when changing gear (from gear 2 to gear 4) the gear change sound very loud?

mine is expriencing this issues. it as if i was from neutral going to gear 1 but louder. gear 5 and 6 seems smooth and quiet when changing.

Any info about the gear change sound? is it normal to be loud? or there smth wear and tear already? that i need to look out for?

yo bros, was wondering if anyone here knows how much does it cost to change the front fender for spec 1. Crashed into a car the other day and the thing broke.

one more thing, what should i look for after a crash like that? so far my alignment is still the same and no vibrations thats unusual to me. Just hoping that i dont overlook some things. I crashed into the car's back font wheel first and broke the rear bumper into 2.

Im not sure how much a original front fender costs but after market once cost abt 80 - 120. Bring your bike to be checked to a good bikeshop. Things such as wheel alignment, front fork whether its bend or scratched. Your tyre and front rim.

Wheel bearing, cone bearing.

I have tested the Nology plug myself on a S4 and it's not worth my while. Sliver core may be excellent in low resistance but too soft for hi-rev engine for my ride. It doesn't even last 15+k on my bike..suppose to last 30k as the product claims. Sorry, not for me..I rather settle for iridium for the kind of money to be spend.

Hot wires..I have not much to say as I have not tried it. Advertising hype and claim is one thing..using it is another in real situation. Yes, I have seen the item phyiscally weeks ago and its not meant for S4..they were meant for genric smaller bikes. If you read about the design carefully...you know that it strenght in performace comes from "capactive quick store and discharge" action to give a good firing. Truth that it provides a good strong sparks at the spark plug core end but that can be achieved with good proper correct grounding and othre source (EPS) that can provide the maxs required input to the ignition coils of your bike.

Also and IMHO...the firewire is not just something that is of any length or size to be just use on any bike generically. What I meant is, the firewire..along its length 'capacitor' as in capacitance value has to be calculated for a specific type of thruput from the ignition coils to the bike...length, size in diameter and the step-up transformer coil in design of your ignition units has to be taken into consideration.

I'm not talking down anyones product here but just to caution riders here that there are many products that sound so 'techkie' and ''scientific' making claims that works (it does or not, we reallly don't know sometimes) but certainly it can end up a "placebo" situation.

As for keeping metal filings generated by wear and tear of metal in gearbox and cyclinder due to poor eo brand..a FREE magnet from your bad harddisk (there are 2 inside), having it stick in front of your oil filter unit does jsut the same. The idea is that we do not want this iron metal filings (powder like fine paste in microns) to get back to the gearbox and engine cyclinder (clean eo without sendiments) and clogged up the oil filter (save on using original hi cost oil filetrs).

Those that have met up with me donkey months ago should know what I'm talking about. Lots of $$$s can be saved if one learns to improvised sometimes for the same result...bear in mind though..your 400cc S4 would aleways be 53 Horsepower no matter what without a big bore or a bigger carbs..its a how quick we can get up the "RPM" to the redline soonest we can and squeeze every inch of your horse strength your steed can produce. And of course..not only good spark or eo are just contributing..proper carbs and exhaust..etc..all counts.

These are normal lah. Hard to explain but its about uneven wear and tear of clutch plates, clutch spring action and rotational stuff inside the clutch assembly. Nothing you can do away with it but adjsuting your chain to its correct tension and your clutch cable help to a certain extend.:sian:
