Ah Pek, any idea what's the tyre pressure?

Hi Pericoon,

Generally people from this forum pump:

Front -> 200kpa - 225kpa

Rear -> 200kpa - 280kpa

... and then again, it also depends if you pillion most of the time or not.

just my $0.02 :angel:

i went to the mototiam 'Hong Nan'. The shop is in lavender street. the block was removed and sent for machining. believe they build up and then machine it to remove the crack. took 3 days and cost 500 but he changed the gasket also and altogether came to around 750.

now, leak free.

Thanks bro! Sorry for the late reply!

Sorry..was in Malaysia the last 4 days. Tyre pressure varies with individual loading of rider usage. What SimpleRider given is a good start and adjust according. How do u know what's right for u?..well, its when ur bike handling especially the front is easy to control and on the light side. If u feel harsh thumbing..it's too much.

Hi Ah Pek, I heard often that PB1 has no power cut. But was wondering what that means? Is it can go beyond 180, has more than 53ps, more than 3.6kg of torque, accelerates faster ? or otherwise ? My prev Ver s supposedly limited to 180, makes 53ps at 12000, 3.6kg at 9500.

oh? got such interesting fact ah? where u hear from?

No..the CDI unit can be detach after unbolting a size 10 bolt and after unplugging its' connector. The casing is a likely a heat resistant plastic casing where the circuitboard sits in and expoxy (melted form) poured in. The melted expoxy looks like thicken sticky honey. Whatever you do, the CDI can be use like that..it's works even cooler :0) Mine has been like dat for the past 7 years liao.

no need to waterproof it or anything? just leave it ?

This was what I understand from my mechanic back in early late 90s/early2000s. Those going brand new = Vtec. The 2nd hand market was comparing between PB1 & Ver S. Latter looks sportier but had power cut. Former tho looks less sporty + that trumpet zorst had no power cut & was in reality for powerful since no power cut. But no one I came accross actually commented beyond that phrase of words.

Pericoon's query made me think...

last weekend i bought tyres from that friendly motor parts shop from kelantan lane:

Bridgestone Battlax BT45 was quoted to me as $298 a set (110/70R17 & 150/70R17) - up $10 from stock specs

and this is what I found:

Front tyres:

Rear tyres:

for the benefit of those who have trouble reading the print on the tyre wall:

It says 280kPa (cold) for both front & rear tyres. Its found on the LHS of the tyres.

But on my chain guard;

for the benefit of those who have trouble reading the print on the chain guard:

front 200kPA & rear 225 kPA

front 200kPA & rear 250 kPA

I'm assuming its two different pressure settings for with or without pillion.

so... which one is correct?

Ah Pek, your input as well?

P.S. interesting to note that:

my BT45s has the same speed rating as the ones on my chain guard. it is a "H"

however, the load ratings are different.

for example, my chain guard says it as 54 for front & 66 for rear.

but for my BT45s, its 54 for front (same values) & 69 for rear.

:p

Cheers! :angel:

This is very subjective. I would love to asked the manufacturer that gives the rating that if I weight 120 kg, my pillion 200 kg and my box load another 10 kg..and the next day, my box load is nil and my pillion don't need my service..what should my correct tyre pressure be? I doubt they can give a fix answer. So to say..the rating is only a guide and it be good if the manufacturer give reference riding load to recommended tyre pressure if any. More..the difference you mentioned about that recommended by Honda and Bridgestone Battlax BT45..you have to take into considersation tyre size..I believe that Honda is referring to standard front 110 and back 140 (not 150..need more air). Again like I mentioned earlier..try to 'calibrate' to ur riding load required not what is printed on the tyres and as long as you feel ur handling is very predictive and controllable to ur liking and comfort..it should be that pressure you 'coustomise' for ur need and riding style and usage.

Also note that if you are travelling with less stops and long distance, reduce ur air tyre pressure by 5 or so to give room to hot air expansion..unless you pump up with Nitrogen gas which does not expand when hot. Plse note..what written here is IMHO.
