Recently was interested to get a power commander 5 for the 14. Did some research and talked to some ppl using it. Decided to go down to an 'authorised power commander dealer' claimed to be an 'expert in the field' n who was better in tuning then anyone else in Singapore. Thier adverts scream all over Motor Culture asia mag. Anyway this was what the 'Expert' tuner told me, " Your bike ah, special... if you want to use the PCV ah you must get the GI pro and also must get two additional O2 sensor :?. Because ah your ECU very clever one. I can only tune your bike 60% if you don get the GI pro and O2 sensor. Together with dyno tuning ah total is about $1200 ++ :faint:", these were the words from him.

$1200 ++ just to get a PCV sounded too much for me. Anyway the whole thing just sounded too ridiculous to me. I told him thanks and left the place with lots of ??? on my head. If it was so complicated to tune, I cld just get the auto tune (which includes a O2 sensor) which will do the job. He did not mention that option at all. Anyway, not convinced of the answer, I e- mailed Dynojet USA directly.

Provide Problem Details: I have a question on the PCV module. A local dealer advised me that I have to get the GI pro as well if I install the PCV in order to get an optimum tuning on my bike. I am now very confused. Pls advise me on what is appropriate. Your reply will be much appreciated. Thanks! Additional info: I have a pair of KR tune slip ons and DNA airfilter on my bike. This is my only modification.

And the reply:

I am not even sure what a “GI pro” is, but I can definitely tell you it is not something required by your Power Commander.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

I am sharing this cause I do not want fellow bikers to fall for this kind of nonsense. Shops which claim they are experts in the field and provide this kind of nonsense should be avoided. If you want to know the name of the shop pls pm me. Wld be glad to share. Am sure that if it were to be a new unsuspecting rider, he wld have fallen for this and wld have been cheated big time. Pls share this ard Bros. I know that many patronise this shop. But be subjective of what you get done there. Simple servicing shld be fine I guess. BTW, this is my personal views based on my experience and my opinion. There are many DIE HARD supproters for this shop. So I leave it to each individual consumer to do thier own judgement.

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

Bro Kumar83,

I think I know which shop you are referring to....Like I said in my previous post, I don’t really trust any bike tuners in Singapore nowadays liao…it’s just sad…most tuners now either don’t know what they are doing or just do a “sweep” tune…When I tune my ZX12R by Meng Tong last time…he tune the bike by incremental; meaning 500RPM at a time for a very precise map (It took 2 hours plus a break in between to cool the bike down)…Dats why I decided not to buy PC and stay stock even though knowing the fact that a well tune PC will have power improvements…so sad he retired from the tuning scene liao….

Yo kumar my bro,

there are 2 versions of the GI pro.The older version is the Gi pro with TRE which means TIMING RETARD ELMINATOR which includes gear indicator. The newer improved version is the Gi pro with ATRE and the gear indicator.ATRE=ADVANCE TIMING RETARD ELMINATOR.

http://www.gi-pro.net/en/faq.htm

A good tuner can tune to 100%.I dont know why need 2 extra O2 sensor for your model, got the Gen 1s only 1 o2 sensor.I strongly believe using your stock amount of o2 sensor is more than adequate.A pc 5 and a auto tune that include the installation costs around there for a gen 2 Hayabusa which i did asked previously.

Bro,Chris would not have any idea what you are telling him as its not specific enough,as there are too many accessories in the modern motorcycle market today.

Email him my second post of the link, its their official website.

Bro,for a hayabusa or even a gen 2 doesnt require any PC or tuning at all for your exact same mods.

As the overall gain is not worth the time,$$$ and effort spent doing it.

Most to most only a few hp increase,as of torque and midrange is really insignificant.

Although i know that your ride is different from ours, all these information are for the Gen 1s and 2s.

I maybe wrong about all these,as i am still a newbie and learning.DO NOT FLAME ME LOL.

Last but not least thanks for sharing as i believe many of us learnt through the hard way.

I am not trying to boast here, but i have been through all the dyno machine shops in Spore less the new 1 in Ubi.

Franchise from racewerks i heard.Went to Louis motor,HKL,Racewerks,Unity and Tachyron motor to do new mapping for my ride before.

Kumar i am interesed to know the name of the shop too,i suspect there maybe some misunderstanding.

Pls Pm me thanks.

I have not used before your model of the pump.

For number 1)Check your brake lights when you brake,if lights on it should be fine

2)If your pump is defective, you will need to squeeze harder on the hard braking.

3)Email Brembo about this, compare yours to the others or ask whether they are having the same issue.

4)If its recent you might feel awkward, check the bolt holding onto the lever.

Bro Confused,

Mine also got a click sound and it comes from the brake rotor itself-try puting your ears near the rotor and ask someone to pull the brake for you.

"I can also feel a slight vibration on the lever.. like a step.."--I'm not sure what you mean by this...vibration occur when riding? or you felt a step when pulling brake stationary? If stationary got a step feeling, try greasing all the moving parts on you RCS..my RCS is smooth as silk when i brake.

Silkolene or amsoil works fine for me...

brembo! 19RCS or the 19x20 older type will be fine, and also good brake pads
