Since your younger bro bought a Fazer1, why not be his sub rider since you are also the guarantor? Then you buy GS1200? You just add him as your subrider as well. Then both of you can swap bike once in a while. You can also consider a 2nd hand GS1200 also. Most of the BMW owner take rather good care of their bike. Or even the F800GS ( I like!!) as it won't be so heavy on your wallet as well.

F800GS is nice, but paying that kind of money for the engine.. :sian:

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

Well, GS1200 is about 10k more. But it true about paying so much for the 800cc. Which is why I got myself a busa instead.

If height and money are no issues, then go for the the R1200GS. You can test ride the new model or the smaller GS at PML first. Once you get a BMW, you will be hooked for years...

to ride is bliss

U pay only for the engine? Or the whole experience?

Check the tire pressure or adjust the suspension. Or get a steering damper. Does he have box? Boxes will also affect the bike handling at high speed.

Your bruder has not said what the condition that he was riding under.

The FZ1 actually has a weight biased towards the forward which gives additional confidence for handling, versus the traditional weight in the center.

More weight on the rear will cause the front to be lighter eg: pillion, fully loaded boxes, poorly setup or adjusted suspension, damaged forks, poor tyre pressure, rider who transfer his weight to the rear/center instead of keeping his hands/weight on the handle bar.

Any of this will cause the biker (or most bike) to shift their cg to the rear, thereby causing the front to float and feel unstable. The higher the speed (>150), the more obvious the feeling. And riding over uneven surface will also compound the feel.

Is your bruder doing any of this? Do investigate more into the comment.

The FZ1 of mine handles fine at 180. When you said high speed, it depends on what kind of speed you are looking at.

If you want to cruising at 200 or more, then you are looking at the wrong bike. Look at the Busa, Concourse, Blackbird, VFR1200 for these.

Just book the Yamaha 1200 Tenere lah.

I think its the best optimised bike inbetween the two other bike you are chosing.

I would like to get one is Hong Leong gets it in.

The other thing you might want to consider is that the BMW has a substantially taller seat height. If you are not tall the fazer would probably be a better idea so you don't need to tiptoe at the lights. Personally i find this annoying.

That being said, I would get the beemer and deal with the annoyance if I were you. Why? It's a beemer and you only see 1 on the road for every 20 fz1s.

As a side note, the 1200gs and it's predecessor the 1150gs went "round" and "down" the globe with Mcgregor and Boorman, so reliability is probably one of it's stronger points.

yo, if you got the dole, go for the gold. in this case...bmw is the gold. yamaha is the bread n butter. both are reliable and serviceable if nothing major. which i do not think will happen if you take good care of your bike and you did not get into an accident.

for me the most reliable would be my bicycle .

cbx125(fj6007),tzr125(fh4485),kdx200(fj3442),fw400(fg8247),nx650(fj6364),dt200(can'tremember),rxk125(can't recall),nx250(f?7724, i think),kdx200(forgotten),skipper125(fl4129),mito125(fl2551),kdx200(fk83),px150(memory failing),zr400(fl1234b),wave125(fl1234b),px200e(fr8571a)...now bicycle(fu 1 x)

Get the Yamaha Tenere 1200. More value for money if you are into the bike and not the brand.

Of course, if you are factoring in the BMW brand and willing to pay super high premium go for the GS1200, why not.

FZ1000S and GS1200 are very different bikes. Get both if you have the dough.

Why stick to just one kind of bike? Try different bikes so that you know the difference in feel between a Flat twin vs a V-twin vs a Parallel twin vs Inline Triple vs Inline4 vs V-4 vs Inline6.

My FZ1 2006, has 70,000 kms with any problem, much more reliable than any GS1200, usualy with shaft drive and electrical problems.

Electrical problem in wat way bro? And u were saying abt shaft problems like example??
