is it gonna be competitive? i just started learning. still beginner

Well, Yes & No.

Yes 'coz its a compeition with prizes.

No 'coz we're not racing each other shoulder to shoulder ala mass start race, but an ITT (individual time trial) instead i.e. we sk8 alone against the clock. So its kinda stress-free, doing our own thang in a "race" situation.

Well, if u think ur juz startin out & not comfortable racin juz yet, perhaps can drop by hav a look & then get psyched up for Samsung Inline Race 2007!

My left boot shell snapped. So my skates are rendered almost useless. Now I have to salvage my Terminator ABEC 5 bearings, at least.

I went to that shop along East Coast Road (I think it's inline culture or something similar) because they were distributing flyers and there was supposed to have up to 50% discount. But there was no more 50% discount items. They had a Rollerblade model for $179 after discount but the chasis can't be modified to make the wheels rocker.

So now I have no choice but to look around again. I don't think I can go into the competition at this stage. Have to get new pair of skates and modify accordingly.

Me too. Right buckle broke. Wheels well worn out. Time to sent for repairs and fit new wheels. I'd like to think of it as similar to changing a sportsbike stock wheels to Marchesini Mag wheels with Slicks! As for the buckle, think of it as a much needed steering damper for the R6 ... :cheeky:

Dear All,

RollerSports Singapore was approached to open this invitation to all speed

skaters/skateschools/ clubs to participate on the Speed Skating World Record

event, in conjunction of the Fitness Asia 2006. The 2-days event will offer

spectators and enthusiasts alike an insight into the skating fraternity

through various activities. It will also offer keen participants an

opportunity to be part of a world and, possibly, once in a lifetime event.

One of the categories is a 24 Hour Speed Skating World Record (Individual),

which Mr Sandy Snakenberg (ex-24 hr World Record holder) will attempt to set a new World Record. He will start at 12pm on 8th Sep 06 and end at 12pm on 9th Sep 06.

Invitations are open for the following categories:

*1) 24 Hour Speed Skating World Record - Team Relay

* A team of 8 (4 men and 4 women) will be put together. All speed skaters

are invited, however, only 8 will be chosen. The selection of relay team

will be based on a number of criterias and the choosing process, and tryouts

will take place (at a still to be decided location) on July 29th, 2006.

Tryout criteria will be to see how far a person can go in 1 hour. The team

will attempt a relay World Record and will be run concurrently with the

Individual record attempt.

*2) Skate Workshop and Demonstration

* This event is opened to all skateschools and clubs to participate.

*3) Skate-a-thon*

Open to the public, the aim of the Skate-a-thon is for everyone to have

a bit of fun and to raise funds and wareness for Grace Haven, and the

Singapore cancer foundation.

These World Record attempts, hosted by Fitness Asia 2006 at the Singapore

Expo on the 8th to 9th September 2006. *All interested skaters and

participants are to contact Mr Sandy (http://www.sandysnakenberg.com) directly*.

Thank you!

Regards,

Anita Musaadi

I've been to quite a few of their skates, and its quite ok 'coz they've got many marshals to help out. They don't leave novice behind. There's always a good mix of guys & girls, young & old. Its a friendly skate. No worries. :thumb:

If you know Mr. Sandy Snakenbery, then you'll know he can bomb down Mt. Faber FAST! This angmoh was the world record holder for skating 24 hrs. He's now working in SG and is attempting to break the same record again, here in SG around the 8-10 September.

All the best, Sandy! :bouncefire:
