What the best in the market?

As in terms of visibility, pricing and durability.

As HID are illegal to some extend.

Heard that Philis diamond vision is good and one of the brightest that is available legally.

Stock is good...Choose your weapon wisely and enjoy it...you can have all the $$$$ to mod and in the end you can't make full use of it....

K is "Kelvin", is a measurement of the temperature, and not brightness. Brightness is measured in "Lumen".

In fact, up to a certain point, the higher the Kelvin, the less light output you get (lumens).

Typically at 4800k, a bulb is at it brightest, about 3800 lumens

Current halogen technology doesn't allow more than 5000k.

Pure white can only be on HID & LED platform, halogen are coated B2-B6, coating at B5 coating is rather white ( 6000kelvin ) looking at the beam not the lamp casing. HIRs are best value for lumen produced (legally), otherwise it should be HIDs but not really legal yet.

How much lumen can HIR produced? I know philips 50% more is about 1850 lumen, whereby normal ones are 1250 lumen. 90% plus maybe 2100 lumen.

HID 3300 lumen.

I wouldn't touch white light even with a pole.

White light is as good as no light when it rains. Atleast with yellow halogens, road lights up a bit.

Errrrrrrrr white lights beam on the HID plaform is veri veri reasonable..... The lights beam on the HID platform is a all weather beam, but yellow is still the most efficient in terms of visibility. If you do a google - philips has a very interesting write up on colored beam thingy... :D

I was talking about the so-called white halogens like CrystalVision. Personal Experience, i was smitten with white light, got a H4 CrystalVision bulb alongwith a 55W CrystalVision halogen spotlight. Both were utterly useless in the rain. sigh
