Fully syn racing 2stroke oil

guys, i always been wondering about this issue, my fren ride a tzm and the only 2t he use is *pure cooking oil* from his home and he always travel to KL at a high speed,

 

he went full services last month and it turn out his piston look fine except for a few mild scratches.. we rider normally choose fully syn or semi syn 2t oil, but he choose to use the 0 syn cooking oil and premix it..

 

whenever he drag, you can smell nuggets and chicken wings..and sometimes i also get this smell from jb bikes..

 

so guys, why using cooking oil is possible? does cooking oil really lub and cool the piston? btw he has been riding for more than a year..

Unless you are playing on the track, hitting max rpms with all the gear shifts... then its essential to use fully synthetic 2T.

 

If you are just riding on the road.. IMHO its a waste of good oil and money.

nope i seen him putting inside and when ever we pump i will also take his *2t to smell, like i mention, when he drag, u will smell (mummy cooking in the kitchen)

2T oil for engines need to meet certain specifications. Viscosity, lubricity under high pressures and temperatures are definitely a few of their requirements.

 

How well does cooking oil handle these conditions in an operating engine I really don't know.

 

Probably millions of dollars have gone into research for the big oil companies to produce a lubricant that can withstand the harsh requirements of high revving 2 stroke engine.

 

Those big oil companies are really stupid to spend all that money when they could have just bought cooking oil and bottled it under their brand name and your friend could have been hailed as a genius.

Actually we will never know whether its luck or it just so happens that the cooking oil he is using happens to be very close in the properties that is required of a 2T lubricant for a 2 stroke engine.

wow cooking oil??? next time pop some nuggets into his petrol tank. and ride behind him with your mouth open to catch the freshly fried nuggest popping out of his exhaust pipe.

 

mmm, ask him to try some real fully syn 2T, if he doesnt feel any improvement, then i would say he really stumbled on some good cheap replacement 2t!

agreed!! i understand 2t is a extremely important factor in our 2 stroke engine.. not much people are *special enough to put cooking oil into in, just wondering if that are any guys here who tried..

Haha this is funny. But I do know that u can filter used cooking oil and mix it with diesel to use as fuel for diesel engine. Tried and peoven to work by mythbusters on Discovery.

my fren did the cooking oil thing cos he said no need to waste money to buy 2t.. the fact is i really believe that its useable.. but of course there is a big risk of piston jamming due to the lack of proper lub and cooling..

 

i used to add 2t in my wave too... well there are alot of funny stuff people can do.. i also use to put the smelly pills(the ball u keep inside the drawers to prevent bad smell)..

 

i put into my fuel and next day i cant start cos the ball start to melt and make my whole carb struck with creamy stuff like sperm.. serious..

 

i did it cos i read from a forum(not here) that its can boast the octane.. its bullshit.. haha.

that's why he say vegetable oil?...

 

it's quite expensive 2t, available from castrol, rockoil and others.

it's very thick and kinda more suitable for racing where u rev the s... out of the engine.

 

as for the moth ball, they say u should only use the white one, as the coloured one have other chemicals that are not suitable.

yaya, the moth ball... cant remember the name earlier on... i only put the white coloured and not only the carb got creamy.. the fuel tank and the whole fuel pipe got clogged too..

Well if diesel engines can run on used cooking oil, I'm pretty sure cooking oil have other uses in the engine department, it's worth a shot if you don't mind the risk involved.
