[Q&A] Malaysia : Desaru

[Terrible One]

Hi guys, I'm planning for a trip to Desaru with my wife. Will be driving cos she's got alot to carry. Has anyone rode/drove there before? This is not the first time we're driving to Malaysia, we usually go further up north so nearby a bit suah ku

why worry if by car? tebrau h.way all the way then desaru junction turn right. Or you want to go further up & can turn at sedili junction.

 

But dunno what the rainy season has done to those roads recently?

Driving should be fun for u..

but just take note..do not try to overtake a lorry if u're not confident.

unless u know the rd well please don't try especially during this rainy season.

Saw 1 sg car upsidedown near telok sengat junction.

Damn scary.

so should be fine la..stay in room shake the bed.

The trip there was ok, traffic was pretty heavy as we left from Causway at noon.. It rained so my wife was glad that we didn't take my Burgman for the trip. Pot holes, yes.. Many of them.. Yes Kutrax, if wanna overtake at the single lane 2way traffic u really got to be sure that there are no oncoming traffic ahead.. Thanks.. Beware of monkeys crossing at Kota Tinggi!! Kena parking fine at Kota Tinggi town on the way back, dunno got to put coupon.. Anyway if I knew also dun have coupon to put.. So had a RM30 Marybrown chicken for that..

 

As for Desaru, ya nothing much to do there but the beach is nice to relax.. Very soft sand.. enHANZed, resort was full leh.. maybe hoilday thats why.. But good seafood is 30mins drive from our resort.. very cheap tho..No I dun like resort but my wife wanna go so no choice..

Went to Kota Tinggi town a few days before you. Lot of parking lots for cars but few for bikes. Just park infront of the Coffee shop that you patronise and must keep a lookout for your bike not from parking warden but from people who might take the opportunity to steal your bike.

 

This precaution was given to me by a local old man who I meet at that coffeeshop. He too was looking out for his bike as he is enjoying his bowl of mee. He advice me to chain and padlock the wheel or the brake disk.

 

A little later I went to another place for Chenol(famous stall in Kota Tinggi), the stall owner too warn me about the lawlessness of this little town. After my fill of stomach I quickly move out of this town.

 

Btw I am riding a Burgman, the potholes is not too bad for the scooter, that because I am use to its suspension system(not so good suspension).

Hi friend, can you tell me a bit more specific directions to Desaru? i've rode there a few times, but by bicycle.

 

now i might be gg, but on my motorcycle instead. so would like to know the way there from 1st link ba. should be nearer from 1st link rather than 2nd link right?

ozzarbomb -> go by 1st link nearer....after u-turn frm jb immigration...take da route towards tebrau (kota tinggi/mersing), nt KL route....go up all da way n follow direction.....near kota tinggi control cross junction turn right....go all da way straight....da entrance to desaru is to ur left @ petronas petrol station....b4 reaching tat petronas u will see some food stalls on top of a hill on ur right....after petronas go all da way straight (dont turn left or right @ any roundabout) till u reach da Welcome to Desaru Gateway

anyway, at JB there do u-turn not come back to singapore meh? but generally i have a faint idea how to do there le, must go kota tinggi first then go Desaru. i remember twice i got cycle back with my buddies from Desaru to singapore via 1st link before. The good 'O days. now old liao.

 

so go on motorcycle and go on bicycle is essentially the same way ah.

wat i meant da u-turn along da coastal road, nt da bridge returning to SG

 

yup....

 

more or less da same way coz its da shortest possible route to desaru....bt u dont have to go to KT...its juz a controlled cross junction where right turn to desaru, left turn is to KT n straight on is to mersing

yup very near only, come on lah, last time i ride bicycle also go desaru, can one. NP.

 

there nothing much at all, go there is eat, sleep, rest, watch TV, take a dip and maybe do a spa. tt's about all tt's available when i went there in march.

 

the attractions like fireflies and fruit farms all are outside of Desaru wan. most of the resorts there got package tours, but i reckon if u can find the place it's gonna be cheaper. :smile:
