I've been looking for the 9700 too. But it's priced at est $900 for a first hand set without contract. Honestly I think that's a bit too much for a phone. I'll just wait until my contract ends then renew and get a newer model, which should have come out by then.

BBM is based on data usage. not linked to sms.

May I know where WhyMobile is located at? Reliable shop? Don't really trust these small-time handphone shop operators.

Yep.

You will need to purchase a special 'BlackBerry Internet Service' data plan to use BlackBerry Messenger. Its usage is already bundled into that plan.

What I like about this is international chatting. Compare that to 60 cents for one roaming SMS!

have to get a BIS $19.90 per mth with 1GB data plan, the BBM is charge under it but it uses very very minimum usuage of data sent in n out even 24/7.

Push email just sees a small amount of data usage. But once you use it for internet surfing or BlackBerry/Google Maps, that's where the usage would go up.

So far, I did all 3, but still below my 1GB cap. Whew...

P.S.: My BB data plan through M1 was just $13/mo when I signed up last Christmas.

Qeith : for me i also dont really trust this shops provided they really sell LOCAL SET instead of "unlocked set".

For Starhub BIS Plan, its $19.90(Not TIED with any contract can cancelled anytime, UNLESS u renew ur contract/new line with a BIS den it will be $13.90+(mobile plan) with 2yr contract also.

*Starhub Blackberry phone comes with 2yrs warrenty

so far for starhub 1GB BIS, this few days keep using the browser/watch short video n DL Apps & chat BBM/facebook/msn/GPS the usage also like quite low... 13MB/ of 1000MB(1GB)

Just checked my bill.

BB 1GB Date plan: $15.

Rebate: $5

Rebate: $1.50

Paid: $8.50

I have no idea what the rebates are as its not mentioned. But the dataplan usage of $300+ dollars are still within the 1gb cap.

BB maps?

for the first time locking on to satelite, it take about 15-20mins.

subsequently, it takes less than a min. depending on how frequent you access you gps. if everyday usage, satelite lock on really fast. if once a month, takes a few minute to lock on. there's some science behind it.

you can try looking at MGMaps. I am currently using it (can stored offline maps) for touring as i dont have to use dataplan when overseas. very useful when i go to unfamiliar places in thailand etc.

RYANS, are you using a BB Bold 9700?

This phone has Assisted GPS. "Assisted" meaning in poor conditions, your phone first finds out where the satellites are from your mobile carrier. This makes it faster for your BlackBerry to find the satellites faster that way.

In BB Maps, press the BlackBerry key, and then click "Start GPS Navigation". It will start to find the satellites, and will begin tracking your location wherever you are.

By the way, my BB konked out on me today. Hope I can repair it
