Bro, I don't think its normal to have EO depleting. If EO is depleting large amt, it may mean that your piston ring might have worn, this usually happrns to older or bikes with high milage as motorbikes are prone to wear & tear.

Another reason might be your gasket some where at the engine is leaking, but if thats the case, you shd be able seeing EO aft overnight parking below your bike, try to take note if you haven't been taking notice. :thumb:

Best is go to your mech & tell him your prob, but don't exegerate your bike's cond as it may hamper him in making the correct judgment, same like visits to the doc, unless of course you are trying to get a MC. :offtopic: :offtopic: :offtopic:

If your engine oil is depleting at very fast rate, then it is your piston ring which cause it.

Dont be fool by bike shop into overhaul the whole engine. Go to the bike shop you trust and ask them to change the piston ring only.

:sorry: No offence to your friend but serves him right for needing to go overhaul, to me, if you don't border to even change/chk the EO, you shouldn't be riding in the first plc, he shd be taking a bus or MRT! The bare minimune is to change the EO at regular intervals, if they can't even afford to do that, better take public transport. But if its because there is a leak somewhere, then it's another thing, he shd be more observant of his bike. :giddy:

It's probably a cam cover gasket leak, go get it fixed at a good motodiam. While it is true that all engines do consume some minute volume of oil, it is possible that a properly broken in engine maintained in good condition with regular 5000km oil change will consume no detectable volume of engine oil. Oil consumption is not a norm, but small amounts is not alarming.

My own bike is a high compression 15,500 rpm screamer, and regularly gets revved for sustained periods to 12k and beyond. The engine is perfectly at home in those operating range and there is no detectable change in level of oil ever. I have 40k on the odometer.

If you only want to change EO every 3000-4000, I recommend Maxima. It can be purchased at Mustafa and costs around S$21. If you want to change every 1000 km, try the S$4.00 oil sold in Carrefour.

As for the plugs, try Kin Tai or the stretch along desker road. Or of course, LAB.

Hope this helps.
