Whoa, is that a digital speedometer that reflects off your windshield?

If u have an iphone, download an app called " Dashboard". It enables HUD function as well. Meddle with the app and u will love it.

This Friday - 10 June 2011

Pre-IT show meeting at Toa Payoh HDB Hub - 6.00pm onwards. Contact me (number below) for exact location. As you can guess, it's a very good restaurant (cheaper one this time :D)

We will start riding early, from 8.00pm onwards to Eastern Singapore for recon. End point is at Sengkang.

Participants who are not working in the TPY area are advised to do a rolling rendezvous with me (SMS 93270801) during the evening.

And of course... IT show on Saturday morning.

Pictures from yesterday's Eastern Sector recon led by Neo and Vik :3. We devised new convoy and navigation tactics for use in local traffic conditions, and of course, train up new convoy leaders for future trips.

There was also 80 minutes of helmet cam footage, being uploaded right now.

EDIT

And here it is, helmet cam (M13 style) mark 2

This version is totally free floating (which means physical auto-stabilisation independent of vehicle movement). As you can see, Phantom suspension is not really effective damping out bumps in the road because its a very light chassis.

Thanks guys, sorry I was on "silent" mode over the weekend. Doing some writeups for Android smartphones/tablets, the SBF version is here.

I also try not to host / participate in more than one rider per week, this ensures maximum commitment and concentration. (Which means more awesome videos).

If everyone wants to switch to Saturday night that can be arranged later this week :3

Your windscreen speedo is really useful at keeping eyes on the road without having to look down to check yr speed...

Very cool too... how did u make it?

If you have an iPhone or Android tablet/smartphone just get a speedometer app with a HUD mode and you will feel you are flying an F-16 :)

Most smartphones will project a smaller display of course - I use a Galaxy Tab.

Try not to make the colour of the projection too distracting. Blue for instance induces fatigue and bright white kills night vision. Red or faint green works well for low light vision or relaxed viewing respectively. Green looks best for videos as the red does not contrast well with the road surface.

For motorcycles without large windscreens then install the smartphone as a dashboard facing you and you're good to go. If you have a yoke mount for the phone then it clamps securely to the handlebar. But you need to see where to purchase the RAM yoke mounts locally. Most shops just have the suction cup mounts which are obviously inadequate for motorcycle use.

Thus, using a smartphone as a GPS speedo is great fun with little hassle.

Hi bro ... yes, 20 - 22 July's ride to Frazer's Hill is pretty much confirmed. Do join us.

While Frazer's is confirmed ... we are still discussing spending the entire time there. There was a suggestion to spend a day elsewhere ... but as usual, its the ride and the company as well as the destination thats impt ... so we r quite open to suggestions.

Just for you,

SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER

8.00pm from "Somewhere in Central Singapore" - PM me at 93270801 to enquire about meeting details.

Feature: "Northeast Corridor"

Do you know about the secret expressway leading from Pasir Ris to Marina Bay? You'll be cruising literally, suspended above busy roadways and right through the middle of a bustling commercial district but never gridlocked in traffic. Downtown East to Marina Bay Sands in 30 minutes or free cheeseburgers for all :)

@darkdragon88

Bring your CBR400 this Sat and everyone will swoon at your bike :D
