hi guys. As have heard tht VFR makes a gd tourer...on comfort n with decend powerbend in a usable range. It wld be great to hear it 1st hand frm the owner i guess. My queries wld be based on personal experience, wats the fastest possible crusing speed with protection frm wind blast and with comfort which u can last for 2 to 3 hrs of ride without break? :btw: my height is 182cm.

The fastest cruising speed is very personal.

On the VFR, you will run out of petrol well before the 2-3hr mark. At a fairly constant 160-200kmph "cruising" speed (at NSH at 3am in the morning), I run dry at about 250-260km. That's about 1.5hrs. Just the right interval for a stretch/break.

Wind blast on the stock screen is well balance as it hits me on the shoulder and takes the weight of my wrist.

I am 1.82m tall and 52 years old.

As another viffer offered, counter-steering to initial a lean or change in direction is very effective on this (or any bikes).

cos its u who taught me to countersteer when i 1st got my viffer n find it hard to steer :thumb:

actually alot of riders is doing countersteering just that we didnt realise...

160 ~ 200 KPH is really the cream cruising zone. This is when our beautiful V4s wake up in the top gear. Arhhhhh...... Makes me feel like taking her out for a spin now......

Close to 200 i need to duck behind the screen already... i have a zg double bubble... even so... the windblast is pretty strong. Maybe a taller screen will help, but I don't really want to change the look of the bike too much.

Another thing which really helps is earplugs.

I've been riding the same FI model as yours for some years now. Here's my experience on this bikes handling and refusal to steer has never been an issue.

1. Tyre condition: Like any bike, worn tyres makes steering very heavy and riding it unpleasurable. Change it more regularly.

2. Tyre pressure: Keep at the recommended 36/42 front/rear pressure for street use at it would require less effort to steer.

3. alter/quicken the bike steering/ geometry by (a)dropping the triple clamp (see earlier postings or (b) raise rear preload to raise the height or © add 6mm of shims to the top of the rear shock.

4. Finally - check your steering head bearings for wear and tear if steering is really as bad as you make it out to be.

As another viffer offered, counter-steering to initial a lean or change in direction is very effective on this (or any bikes).

hello, which year is your bike? My bike is currently down with no charging. Got a new rectifier and new battery and still no charging. Called FJT and Eversuccess and they say no stock of magnetic coil...die liao...

1. Tires pressure is good and tires are quite new (Racetecs too, so can't fault them on quick steering!)

2. Front is already dropped. As the the steering bearing, I don't think that's the source of the problem cos it turns pretty freely.

I experience difficulty in steering mainly when the speed is slow. I can steer it by leaning of course, but it seems that I have to lean a little even when taking not very tight corners.

Actually I thought this is mainly due to the 120 size front tire? My previous bike all uses 110 front.

Hey Snow

Mine's a '99.

Since changing both rectifier and battery charge did not solve the problem, it is most likely that the problem lies with your alternator. check first to see if it is delivering the rated output before you go buy that new alternator; or it might end up as nothing more than a loose connection somewhere.

Does your charging problem come in gradually or suddenly. If is the former then its likely the rectifier and/or battery probelm. If its suddenly, chances is its the alternator or connection problem somewhere.

You'll need a multi-meter to check and plan on a good afternoon work.

STEERING INPUT: Try to reduce loading the steering bar as it would increase steering effort needed. Support your body weight with your stomach, thigh and back muscle, leaving your steering input only on the bars. At higher speed, due to centrifugal force the bike will resist turning input, hence all else being equal,a heavier and faster bike makes steering a more-effort exercise.

Counter-steer to initiate a turn or lean angle and then use your body language to maintain that angle of lean. It takes really much lesser effort. If your suspension, bike geometry and tyres are in good nick, maintaining that lean angle should require almost no further steering input.

I would say suddenly. Cos I only got the bike for 3-4 weeks. At first it looks like a case of battery not charge because the previous owner didn't ride everyday. I recharge the battery (maybe that's a bad mistake) cos it's only 1 year old and the voltage reads a healthy 14.6V when the bike is idling. Then 1 week later while touring in Malaysia the battery died and there's totally no charging.

Yup, has already tested the stuff, as advised by the people at vfrd. You can check out what I've test here: http://www.vfrdiscussion.com/forum/index.p...23entry392723

hey guys,

i'm new here. Read a some pages of this forum, found u guys realli friendly and helpful.

i'm gonna upgrade to class 2 soon. VFR is one of the considerations. U guys noe of anyone who's selling their baby?

Check cost with the regular suspects ie FJT, Boon Siew, Chong Aik or even eBay (US site).

BUt more curiously, I am surprised that the handle bar actually bent, considering that you were hit by the car's mirror and you did not fall. Perhaps the bar only rotated around the fork tube?

I am surprised because I know VFR are quite crash-worthy cos I went down at around 100kmph and non of my bars bent, even though the bar balancer were badly scoured.

Tyres are very personal choices and it depend much on your riding bent and budget. I like BT020 as it gives me the right balance of cost-performance. Gives up to 20,000km mileage. It cost me $280 a pair at LAB - close supervision and patience required for peace of mind here at LAB.

You can troll the many threads herein to see other viffers experience.

Currently, I'm using Michelin Race Tec. It lasted me for 2 track session at Sepang and 1 session at PG.

Before this, I'm using Pirelli Diablo Corsa which lasted me for 3 years. (April 03 to Nov 06, around 8,000km)

BTW, I use my bike for the occasional track and tour sessions.

Hi vfrt, thks for the info, :thumb: I got the part from FJT for SGD130, nvr thought that the difference is so big, got quoted SGD199 at Boon Siew, SGD169 at Everfit and SGD130 at FJT, I think must go to FJT next time for anything. Changed the handlebar already, it is really bent hard, I estimate around 10 degree. The mechanic was taking quite a while to remove the bent handle bar. The car was travelling at around 30km/hr when it hit my handlebar. Seeing the handlebar bent like this, it is quite a miracle that no other part was damaged. This prove tt our VFR is real crash worthy.

I had that sound before, but it went away after i lubed my chain. But now i have a swishing sound like there's something rubbing against the brake disc when i rotate my rear tyre when it's on the mainstand.
