seah,

Maybe Friday you wanna meet up?

Anyway guys, has anyone who goes into JB frequently, signed up for the Biometric access?

If not, I'd recommend you to do so. Even though I've signed up for quite some time, it was only yesterday that I felt it's true benefits. After topping up petrol & buying Roti John, I went back into S'pore at about 8 pm. I was shocked when I saw that the tailback of the bike queue at the S'pore immigration extended to the bottom of the slope. But the BIKES queue was empty!

So what would've been a 1++ hr wait became a 2-minute breeze through...

You can sign up during weekdays when you exit S'pore. It's free and takes only 5-10 minutes!!

Hi, Mr Bandit,

You mean Friday meet up to go change hand-grips?? Where and when is convenient for you?

I finish work only at 6pm lei. Then think M-technik won't open until so late(I mean by the time we get there after we knock off) right?

And during lunch, not possible for me to "sneak out".

What do we need in order to sign up?? Just our passport?? Biometric access pass?? Meaning we have got to let them scan our iris and take our thumb-prints ah?? Apply on the Singapore side or the Malaysia?

Due to the "troublesome" of having get stuck in the bike queues for so long, then have to breathe in all the exhaust when get stuck in the queues, and the increasing petrol prices in Malaysia, I have not visit GP Shell for quite some time. Find it too tiring to get stuck and waste so much time in the bike queues. So I have been pumping Singapore petrol for a while. Not that I rich, but really don't wish to get stuck for so long in the bike queues with the kup-kias...

You go to a little room where they take your mug shots and fingers print to digitise it. Thats it. But its only accessible from the return lane from Johor. BIKE is a blessing, but because there is only 1 small lane for this access, it is often blocked up by the mass of bikers, so you still got to queue up until 50m from the 1st immigration booth before you get into that lane. This is for the north bound journey.

For the home bound, it varies depending on whether the barriers are up to separate the BIKE and non-BIKErs. Impt note - it is for single rider only. You cannot use this lane if you pillion.

Overall, it is definitely worth the effort to register.

i think they realise they made a stupid mistake by removing the barrier last time... now the barrier is there to stay...

PS: something to share, if u r a PR... u will nid to re-apply for the BIKES when ur re-entry permit expires... which means u nid to renew ur re-entry permit and re-apply for BIKES...

Hi guys, need some advice here. Truly appreciated.

I'm currently riding a 5th Gen VFR800 w/ABS. Sometimes when I'm about to move off from traffic junctions, I realised that there'll be jerks when i throttle to biting point. 'I'll have to release throttle completely before I'm able to move off properly again.

It's as though the ECU has gotten the A/F ratio wrong. This usually happens at the next traffic junction after some hard riding. Anyone with same experience? Is it due to the higher idling after the hard riding? Normal?

Hi, ALL,

I am looking for a GIVI (perhaps 47L or 52 L rear top box) rear top box for my Honda VFR800 too.

Any idea where or which shop is the distributor for GIVI boexs in Singapore? Also anyone knows any shop which sells GIVI boxes and also accept a trade-in of my LTD box??

If not, when I change to a bigger L GIVI box, I can only give it away to anyone here or throw it away, which I find it very wasted, cos the LTD box is still quite new.

Thanks, guys.

If you want and don't mind a 2nd-hand box, I don't mind passing it to you.

But must let me get my Givi 47L or 52L rear top box first. :)

You are right.

It is "looks vs conveniency".

For me, it is no choice. Need a box to keep and "hide" my two helmets.

Plus sometimes go shopping with my GF, got to keep things in the box, that is why looking at "upgrading" the box to a at-least 47L box. Looking at Givi 52L box with installing a back-rest on the box.

But then it will be a "looks vs conveniency" if I go for the 52L box, cos scared it will be too big to suit a VFR. :)

I don't mind passing it over to you if you want my box after I have "upgraded" to a bigger Givi. Rather than throw it away.

You will be the first one on the give-away-list since you voice out now. :)

vinz,

I presume this happens when the bike is already hot, right? From what I notice, when the bike has reach a certain temperature or after hard riding, it gets very responsive. Same with my ride.

Good.. In this case, we can give the LTD box a second or third "life" and not waste it's meaningness of being "born" into this world. We can help re-cycle the plastic box and not create another bit of non-biodegradable waste. :)

The FI does tend to be a little jerky when setting off, esp at low throttle. It is also a little difficult to have a smooth transition when down-shifting and de-clutching coming into a tight bend where smooth response is crucial to prevent undue excitement. I've been told this is the characteristic of the injection fuel mapping of the stock ECU. Mates with PC on theirs tells me it smooth that out. I dont have a PC & do the following to minimise the jerks

1. Adjust the chain to minimise lashing

2. Synchronise the throttle to improve.

3. Run some injector additives to fuel to clean up the injectors

4. Reduce the slack in the throttle cables.

5. Use higher rpm when moving off, say 3k rpm.

6. Practice to get use to this unique charm of this bike:D
