Seems like your bike is overheating. There might be a leak in the cooling system.

Back to the basics, "coolant", the green thing, is actually a combination of antifreeze (to prevent coolant from freezing in sub-zero temperatures) and protective additives, to prevent corrosion within the cooling system itself.

Pure water (distilled water) is a pretty poor conductor of heat. But water requires a great deal of energy to heat up, therefore it is ideal for removing heat from the engine. Any additives, particularly antifreeze, reduces the conductivity of heat even more. Since the temperature in our country will never drop below zero, its possible to go for coolant mixtures that have no antifreeze, just the anti corrosion additives.

Popular ones on the market now are engine ICE and Redline Water Wetter.

The entire water cooling system is pressurized too. Water boils at a higher temperature under higher pressure. Thats why when the engine is still hot, you should never open the radiator cap, otherwise the water under pressure will suddenly boil because of the reduced pressure, and boiling hot steam and water will gush out....

So for your bike, i'd recommend you first flush your cooling system with a good radiator flush, available at your friendly convienence store - Vinegar! Mix vinegar and water 50/50, drain your coolant and top up to the brim with vinegar mixture, and let your bike run for about 10 minutes. Then, drain and flush with fresh water (tap water will do), flush as many times as you like, or until you see no more gunk and greenish things coming out, then fill up your system with water wetter

I used water wetter on my Phantom, it worked very well, too well in fact~ The temperature sometimes goes to negative!

I'd recommend you change the filler cap too. Its actually a pressure regulator, which releases excessive pressure if the engine overheats (Then you'll see coolant puke out of the overflow pipe)

Depending on how long is your existing coolant in your bike... most bikes coolant can last approx 30 000KM before your next change.

If yours is not due yet, I suggest that you start with basic which is checking your coolant reservoir. My first S4 coolant reservoir ran dry completely :giddy: before I knew that I need to top it up with water when it runs low...

I do not know where is the location of your reservoir...so have to ask experts here...

Wayang... Scrap means the Bike Get Crushed & smelted.

There's a place in Jurong that does all this.

Usually, some of the Parts are taken out & sold to shops.

eg. Tachometers, mirrors, carb... :thumb:

Kind of wasteful, the Hornet 600 are just a yr old.

It goes to that great big hornet's nest in the sky...

Actually, it gets deregistered, ie. COE withdrawn, not allowed to use on local roads. After that, depending on the condition, three things can happen to it: it can either get broken down for parts, it can end up in a scrap yard, or if it's still good condition, it can get exported overseas for reincarnation.

Actually i don't see why not, really... you'll just have to buy another COE for it, and ensure it complies with all singapore road regulations as to emissions, road-worthiness etc.... dunno whether the BBDC bikes were cleared for singapore roads.

Any quotations on the EBC pads?

Not Cleared for ROADs of Spore...

So.. Think they get money for scraping bikes.

RU=restricted use, those with the green and red number plates one. cannot go on the road one. there are some with normal number plates though. the instructors used those with normal number plates one to 'escort learner bikes on the main road and buy food at the neighbouring estate. :goodluck:
