You can CMO it for a premium price or.... get a unit with 2 or more cig outlets plus built in 5V/USB sockets for only $26 from Mustafa.

As for the wiring it's pretty simple to do :3

Those 2 or more outlets are usually not built for weather proof, i particularly looking for the one shown in pic b`cos of the 'spring-loaded' cover.

it's 'sort-of' proven & tested by the ang-mo during their adv-ride.

The USB outlet on some of these power outlets have problems powering up Garmin GPS.

:)

i totally agree with u, not to mention yr GPS, they have problem charging my PDA. Maybe it's the out-put power of my old bike.

Usually its because of the amp rating for the USB. Do check. Its best to get 1 amp rating for USB. Most of them only half of that. That is one of the reason why.

Example is this one, it shows that its output for USB is 5V 1A.

That is designed for cars, and not so suitable for most bikes as it sticks out too much.

One way is to strip it for it's PCB, and house it in box. Then tap the power direct from the battery.

I'm using this, small and compact and yet 1amp current supply.

By the way for these "weather proof" ciggy socket, won't the water seep in from the side when it is plugged in? Anyway I always put the ciggy socket inside my rear seat compartment. I just use a long usb cable to get the power from the rear seat to the front.

the previous one, which i got from the MO, is damaged during the 1st heavy downpour. maybe it's due to the 'open-connection'. the one i got dun come with wiring & fuse. i mainly just cut a hole in my ST side pocket & install it there.

that's y if u notice the one that IvikaRazI & i post came with the wiring & offer more weather protection.

i did this up to charge up my iPhone. working fine. i pack the board into a box and leaves it on my bike behind the headlight. it is not a waterproof box but i silicon-ed up all the openings less the usb port area which i need to plug in. so i taped it up with black tape - army style. ultimately i am not going to use it in the rain so yea. if you need the schematic do let me know. it is very simple and very low cost. less than $5. so who still needs a ciggy power socket?! anyway do take note that the iphone is a very picky phone so it does not accept just any usb powered outlet for charging. you need to provide a voltage reference to the + and - data line (missed out by most chargers not made for iPhone)

will post more photos of final product if anyone is interested.
