Any good links pls share, I shipped lots of item from US, but not riding boots as I never come across any good links that offer good prices...

I am thinking of getting 2 boots as well from the net. One is Alpinestar shibuya for going out as it is waterproof.. and the other one is Alpinestar octane. Currently looking into 2 website. I just emailed them asking about the shipping charges whether they could do one bulk shipping. They offering 15% off all Alpinestar product.. And the prices are the same as the official website minus 15% off..

If possible then i would save probably $250 rather then buying in Singapore..

Ok my efforts gone to waste... was thinking of putting up a mass order but got some complication.. haha didn't know if above $400 must pay GST..

So now i will just share the website. I find this website quite cheap on Alpinestar product and i am not too sure on the other product there. But looking at Arai helmets i guess in Singapore would be cheap. http://www.ridersdiscount.com

Check it out, the delivery charges will only be $25USD for any order you make.

What i am ordering- Alpinestar Ridge and a SRS Drystar glove

Total cost - SGD$252 include shipping.

So that would make the boot $200 and gloves $50

Tell me if you can get a better deal.

So i will just leave it as that. Don't want to get lawyers running into my life. Pm me for any queries.. I will proceed on ordering myself end of this month... WOOOHOOOO

I got a pair of A*'s Ridge from the abovementioned website, got my brother to bring them back for me so no shipping cost

Beware, they use US sizing, while here in SG we usually use UK sizing. E.g. I wear size 42 = UK 8 = US 9.

So far so good, wore them everyday for about 3 months, through many trips, still OK.

Very slightly warm, but you don't really feel it when riding.

My bike is stock! Please don't jio me!

Yah the problem i had with this shoe was when i tried it on... At the shop i tried 43 but it was too big.. so i went for a lower size and it fits me well. However i have an smx2 with a size of 43 and it fits me well.. kinda stumped by it. My safety shoe at work is also 43. I realy need to try the shoe again and double confirm.. :cheeky:

Very true. I had sprayed my Airtechs with the Motorex waterproofing spray (2 coats) on Monday, and then on Tue I hosed them down with the shower. All it took was 30sec before the inner layer was damp o_O

Learnt my lesson, not buying any more boots with a porous outer layer - the GoreTex structure can only do so much. Leather or synthetic leather will keep out the bulk of the water, making the GoreTex's job that much easier.

Just bought a TCX X-Five gore-tex touring boots from Chiap Lee for $250/-. Keeping my finger crossed on the waterproofing. Will try it next week when go Malacca with friends and post the outcome. Cheers!!!

Update on my situation: I wrote in to Chiap Lee saying I wasn't happy with the waterproofing, and that some of the stitching was starting to unravel. They said they forwarded the email to TCX, and the company offered to replace the boots FOC. I requested to swap for a pair of X-Five leather/goretex boots instead, since they're the same cost and I don't have a lot of confidence in the waterpoofing of the AirTech material any more.

So as of Saturday, I've swapped my TCX AirTech Gore-Tex boots for TCX X-Five Gore-Tex. First impressions are that the new pair is definitely stiffer, but then they haven't been broken in yet so I'll give them some more time on that. I imagine they will be warmer than the AirTechs too, but hopefully not too bad. Most importantly, I hope they'll be a lot more waterproof!! :D

Hi all,

Here's a price list I compiled from various shops when I was out shopping for riding boots. Obviously it's not a comprehensive or definitive list, but it does give some idea of what's out there.

NOTE:

(1) All prices are 'first quote' only, without any bargaining/negotiation. Many/most of these prices should be at least slightly negotiable - especially at Regina, where i have a history of being quoted silly prices o_O

(2) gtx = Gore-Tex (if the model name contains "GTX", it is written in CAPS)

(3) 'waterproof' usually implies NON Gore-Tex unless otherwise specified

Motoworld:

BoneDry Oxford waterproof : $250

Komine 05-062 gtx : $280

Regina:

AlpineStar

- S-MX R gtx : $520

- S-MX 5 waterproof : $380

- Durban gtx : $480

- Tech Touring gtx : $480

- Scout waterproof : $450

- Web gtx : $480

- Alpha Touring waterproof : $380

- Roam waterproof : $380

BikeTech21:

Falco (can't remember now if these are all waterproof or gtx)

- 315 Sirius WTR : $340

- 411 Mixto : $290

- 404 Mercury : $270

- 578 Argon : $255

- 950 Logo : $240

- 330 Axis : $252

- 927 Hoot : $240

All of the above had 10% discount when I checked.

Chong Aik:

Sidi (Gore = gtx)

- On Road Gore : $370

- Strada Mega Gore : $345

- Vertigo Mega Gore : $420

- B2 Gore : $350

Chiap Lee:

TCX

- Infinity GTX : $380

- X-Five GTX : $280

- Competizione/Competition S : $395

- AirTech gtx : $280

Like I said, a lot of these prices should be negotiable to some extent.

Please add on to this list any shops/brands/models I have missed out. (e.g. Puma & RJays @ Regina).

Cheers! :thumb:

I have ordered from Riders Discount and had no problems with the shipping. US$25 is the cheapest around, and with the weak dollar, goes further.

If you are trying to order from their website, you will notice they dont have Singapore as a shipping destination (at least not when i ordered a few months back). May need to email them and pay via paypal. Also, its slow shipping, so around 2-4 weeks and without tracking. I ordered a helmet and gloves and paid a lot less than in SG.

Hello, I am a new biker from Kuala Lumpur. I am looking Daytona Journey XCR with Gore-tex. It is waterproof yet very suitable for humid climate like Malaysia, Singapore. i tried that at Mecinda in Kuala Lumpur few weeks ago however it is out of stock now. You may read more from http://www.daytona.de It is hand made in Germany. Price in Mecinda (pertama complex, KL) is SGD300 for that model. It is midcut. The high cut one is pricier.

Where can I buy that in Singapore? I call motoworld just now but they do not carry the brand.

And just curious why the brand seems to be an alient in this forum here. I means no one mention daytona brand in this thread.

any reviews of the tcx jupiter 2? thinking of getting it within this 2 days....anybody wanna grab also?

Saw it at Chiap Lee. Thought about buying it. It's light and nice looking, also quite comfortable. Had doubts over whether it would provide enough protection in a crash. Might get something more sturdier.

Probably because there are no dealers for this brand in Singapore? See http://www.daytona.de/english/dealer_e/dealer.html for the list of countries - Malaysia is listed, Singapore is not. It's possible that someone sells them here, but I wouldn't bet much money on it.

Good luck anyway :thumb:

For those thinking about waterproof boots with better protection...Went for a long ride on Saturday in Johor and it was pouring for about an hour, then light rain for about 5hrs on and off, plus many puddles and splashes. My socks stayed completely dry with the TCX Infinity GTX. So far so good!

I sent enquiry to daytona Germany and they provided me the contact of Singapore Daytona dealer. I then emailed them and indeed they do supply daytona boot range. The contact is here:

Mobile Number : +65 96948025

Office Number : +65 68990148

Fax Number : +65 67950148

By the way, I then decided to just bought the daytona boot from Mecinda in Pertama Complex, Kuala Lumpur. I bought the Journey Goretex XCR. XCR stands for Extra Comfort Range, a new Goretex variation meant for hot weather like Malaysia. I now use it for my office commuting. I've been through fair amount of rain and hot day for couple of days now and believe me, it is wonderful!

This Journey boot is midcut version, still it manages to avoid water go thru the upper part of the shoes. This is my first ever real motorcycle boot that I own, before this I only wear sneaker of plain high-cut leather boot which really never water at all though it is kind of water resistant.

For those really going for long touring ride, still advisable to buy the high cut version.

Yup, Chiap Lee has a decent selection. For $250, you could get either the TCX Airtech (well ventilated & comfortable, not very waterproof) or the TCX X-Five (more conventional leather boot). Both of these are high cut boots, so if you're looking for a low or ankle cut, your budget might go further.

Also worth checking out Rjays & Puma boots at Regina.

See the price list I have posted higher up on this page, it should give you some other places to check out as well.

Falco 927 Hoot is water proof(cheap bought less than $200), but after 6mths using it the membrane breaks up and boots started to leak in during heavy downpour and the leather is oohh damm hard one. This boots surely is out of my next on the list, go GORE-TEX since they are more tough, other types of waterproof material won't last long.

can all these waterproof boot be kiwi? coz the black colour seem to be faded? any issues if it goretex and got kiwi over it?

I don't think it should be a problem. The goretex lining is on the inside, so it's not directly affected by the polish. In fact, a good wax polish will help protect the leather and make it more waterproof - I would recommend it. Not sure if it's equally helpful on non-leather materials.

got myself a pair of TCX boots, and managed to try them out under the rain. gotta say it's a world of a difference, between regular shoes and waterproof riding boots. the boots have a better grip of the road surface, less likely to slip when, putting your foot down when coming to a stop, and setting off again. waterproof also means warm, comfortable feet. can concentrate better on riding. only thing was getting used to the boots, and how the gear shifter and brakes feel under the thicker material. boots are good.

I'm using TCX too - X-Five GTX. Which model did you get?
