Yo

Just checking here, is mid-oct 14-16, a good time to dive?

I planning my next dive (1st dive was the OWC) around then.

I was wondering with the moonsoon and all, is it a good idea?

In terms of visibility, my inexperience, etc...

I checked thru' the website of a few operators and found out that

a few of them are offering leisure dives during that period.

What's your take on it?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers :thumb:

ps. don't forget to go see my movie ;)

i think u miss out the most impt element...

where?!?

northeast monsoon only affects east coast of malaysia, the rest of the places like phuket, bali, lombok, monado r still ok.

oct is a good period to dive the east coast. monsoon usually dec to feb (so if mid to late nov, then u r cutting it a bit close).

Can extend to 17 Oct if you like, to escape the causeway jam :faint:

By the way, which is better; Pulau Dayang or Pulau Aur?

the dive sites at dayang and aur are all the same. the differences is the dive restorts found on dayang and aur that offers slightly different things

but since u are goin to do your OWC, i dont think u will have much time to really go compare the differences or see much things.

end of the day, its all up to you, to wat u perfer. and also, with which dive centres dive with, as different dive centres like to work with certain dive resorts.

Yeah, more or less is around that amount.

I paid $460 for my OWC, for lessons (theory and pool lesson in singapore, and

open sea dives in Tioman waters).

My package was a 'live-on-board' type, meaning when we are not diving, we will

spent the rest of our time relaxing, sleeping and eating on the boat.

We don't go on land at all, except when going and returning via mersing.

On charges by other operators, they may quote the package say at $300+++.

However, you have to hire their scuba equipment(eg. wetsuit, mask, snorkel, etc...). So when you add it all up, it will reach to $450 (plus, minus).

Mine at $460 was all inclusive, transport to and fro, all meals and rental of scuba equipments all included. You only pay for incidentals, like tidbits, cigarettes or some snacks when the van takes a 10-15mins pitstop.

Hope this info. helps.

Sorry i couldn't shorten the length of this text

As for which operators to choose from, 'floopy' gave a few operators to choose from. I took mine from a different operator, located in the west at west coast area.

You may want to do your on 'research' as to which will be more suitable for you.

Eg location, convenience, etc...

One last thing, you can take the OWC (Open Water Course) cheaper by diving in singapore waters. But i suggest that you pay a bit more and choose to dive around one of the malaysian islands like Pulau Dayang, Tioman or Pulau Aur. There will be more things to see.

Dear Divers,

As the monsoon is approaching, with it comes a wealth of marine Mega Stars that are commonly sighted during this time of the year like the silky smooth and graceful Mantas and the gentle giant Whale Sharks that visits the many dive sites surrounding the tropical turquoise warm waters of Pulau Dayang. Not to mention schools of Bait fish for Giant Trevally and Jacks that always harvest around the shallow water in front of the House Reef that even snorkelers can have a glimpse of the silver shinning formation.

As a token of our appreciation for your supports, we are offering a one time, one weekend package to this beautiful and serene island for only S$200.00 on 4th - 6th Nov for all our divers and friends (details below) and let our multi talented leaders entertain you to a fun filled weekend or just chill out on the beach front and get tan. For those who prefer some action, there's always the beach soccer that'll help you burn some calories off.

** Some additional info for those who are concern about the weather condition. Fear not, as the pre-monsoon always has a month long calm weather before it comes. Which is why we choose this time to extend this offer to you.

Includes

- Land and Sea transfer

- Air-conditioned room

- Full Gears; BCD, Regulator, Mask, Fins, Snorkel, Wetsuit and Tank

- Unlimited shore dives

- Maximum 6 boat dives for advance divers and 5 for open water divers

- 3 meals a day and snacks at Pulau Dayang

- BBQ dinner on Saturday night at Beach Front

- Free flow of syrup, coffee and tea
