It is surpriseing to know according to Singapore Tourism board, Dive operators need Travel agent's (TA) licence in order to bring diver to oversea dive trips legally.

It make me wonder in my diver trip, my dive operators have TA licence or not.

Beeter pay more for Dive operator to have Dive trip, if not it may become die trip. :giddy:

Most of them get around this situation by engaging the travel operators overseas. E.g. The transport operators.

Engage travel operators oversea is what Tours Agent does too.

The main point is:

Do Tours Agent has Singapore Tourism Board (STB) Travel Agent (TA) Licence?

Likewise, how many Dive Operators have TA licence when they bring divers oversea? Many do not have.

When problem come, there is little recourse for paying cheap to non-TA licence Dive Operators.

Like Spa industrial, when there is little regulation, or no zheng hu, the industries will suffer and make headline for the wrong reasons.

If we do not want Dive industrial to die or suffer like Spa Industrial, dive only with those with TA licences is the only way.

BTW, how can Dive operators engage Bus companies to do for them, when Bus companies in Malaysia do not have the resources to do it. More likely, Tours companies have their own fleets of buses.

yeah, let's org a sbf diving trip

Sounds like a good idea.. Probably we can even look at riding to somewhere nearby in Malaysia for a dive? Ride n Dive trip uh?

Am a newbie diver here. Took my Open Water at Moalboal (Philippines) about 2 years back, and just went to Redang Island for a leisure dive trip in March.

Looking at taking Advance Open Water soon..

hehe.. that's the reason why I am posting here. I guess we have to go as a group to somewhere where we can request for some secure parking place, etc?

How about you post some of the TA operated dive centres here to share the knowledge. I'm sure fellow diving enthus will be grateful.

Pulau Dayang. Is it a nice place to dive ?
Not as nice as 6 years ago. :cheeky:

I know that Mersing jetty has a security guarded area where the car drivers parked when they go onto the island. Anyone has any ideas if they are willing to take in bikes as well?

Thank you. I didnt know finsonline is Singapore based. Anyhow I did find a Singapore based scuba forum today.

Hmm.. I'm not so sure about dive centres in Singapore. But I guess you can try: http://www.gilldivers.com/

Honestly, Singapore diving is pretty limited.. Apart from Pulau Hantu (low visibiility) and if you are unlucky enough to get caught in the wrong side of the current - good luck!!

I guess Malaysia would be best for short trainings. I would personally recommend Rainbow Reef Divers if you want to upgrade as they are very professional (i.e. you DON'T get Instructors who only notice and take care of the pretty girls, crappy equipment etc if you know what i mean). .

Did my IANTD Nitrox with them some years ago already and have recommended friends to them with no complaints but only compliments so far - website: http://www.rainbowreefdivers.com/

The truth is ARE other Diving outfits that are good (don't get me wrong) but this recommendation is based on my personal experience.
