Thanks MadDog for taking up the lead to organise a trip! :thumb:

Adding somemore information:

Price:

$90.00 per diver, excluding dive equipment rental

Equipment:

Regulator System $8.00

BCD $8.00

Mask & Snorkel $3.50

Full Foot Fins $3.50

Neoprene Shorty Wet Suit $5.00

Torch Light $8.00

Weight Belt $1.00

Lead Weights $0.50

This trip certainly looks tempting for me. But how would you define "reasonable bouyancy"? Am worried about my bouyancy, cause my dive count is only 13 as of today, although I've got my OW already.

you should have reasonable bounyancy skills and proper finning techniques. This is to prevent kicking up the silt.

From Honda's manual:

The motorcycle presents you a challenge to master the machine, a challenge to adventure. You ride through the wind, linked to the road by a vehicle that responds to your commands as no other does...

I'm not sure if you've seen some of these "AOW Divers" who keep slamming into corals or keep crashing to the bottom.

But come along, i'll know how you are after the 1st dive :p

P.S. the trip will go on with minimum 2pax (including myself)

i think u will need to try out the buoyancy, try not to have too many lead weights on.

personally i put 2 at most. Reasonable buoyancy is when u breath in...u float... breath out... u sink... only my 1 cent.

 Sad thing is I use 6 to give me reasonable buoyancy...

Rebuilding my dreams. But first, the gears

1) WP RS Taichi riding jacket

2) WP riding pants

3) Titanium riding gloves

4) Garmine Nuvi 550 GPS (US$259)

5) WP Komine riding boots

6) Arai Helmet

7) The BIKE of course! :cheeky:

that's a bad misconception.

it doesn't mean less weight is good.

someone fat with a full 3mm suit, torches, camera w/o weight might need more pieces than someone skinny with a bikini top and board shorts.

i recently went on a trip where the divers were all underweighing themselves because they thought less weight = better. i ended up having to pass a weight to a newbie and used a rock to keep neutral bouyancy.

let's not forget that alu tanks become slightly postive at the end of a dive, and wetsuits are positive at surface and negative at depth. so if u're neutral at the start of a dive, u might end up being too positive during a surface stop and shoot up.

imho, it is always easier to add/trim air to your bcd to control your bouyancy than to add weight (from where??) when you're floating away.

I personally carry additional weights to prevent the I-dunno-why-I-keep-floating-up problem...can also give other divers should the need be...

other people(in general) can go ahead and boast that they dun need weights etc...

neutral buoyancy is just something that is to be achieved with practice...not the less weight U have...the easier to achieve...

for the usual blog dives, it's only 2 dives. 1 before lunch and 1 after. So, no night dives. The night dives they do are for charters and the anniversary dive only. I'm not too sure about camping on the island.

Have you told them about the "bareness" of the blog dives ? you have to bring your own lunch and water.

do me a favor, consolidate all their info and email to [email protected] direct

Details needed

Name,

IC or passport number,

mobile number,

email,

rental gear required including belt and the number of weights (please indicate sizes if you’re renting BCD, fin, or wetsuit)

Sorry, check with you guys. If I get my hands on PADI Open Water Diver cert, does that means I get to go diving in most of the places? So am I right to say that I just need to get the cert from any of the diving center?

OW will allow you the bare minimum to dive with a buddy, with some restrictions

-you can only go to max depth of 18m (which a lot of OW flaunt)

-you cannot do night/limited visibility dives

-some operators will not allow you to go to certain dive sites, due to depth of dive site or simply confidence

PADI is only one of the certifying agencies. There is also SSI, SDI, SEI(YMCA), NAUI, BSAC, CMAS. Certifications from any of the agencies are cross regconised.

This is just for info, talk to a dive operator for more info in detail.

$100 excl eqpt

any dive time restriction? (or up to 50bar- depending on individual.)

my experience with them is that you get to dive with good sense, not dogmatic procedures. Most of the corals on the west shore are at abt 5m anyway, so you make the call yourself.

photography equipment allowed?

Definitely, then you can help by showing people the life we have in Sg waters

does the boat provide fresh water for soaking during SI?

it's not a dive boat, so might not have.
