using progrip. got it for $40:( think i got chop. haha...

so far so good. prefer PVC type rather then those Arai heavier version. light and comfortable. if worn correctly almost 100% water proof. some water might get in around the neck around during heavy rain although not much to be a concern.

i rather get a cheaper raincoat which performance is still very good. allow me to change every 1-2 years to cater for deterioration/wear and tear over time.

RS Taichi Drymaster and Rain Buster can be bought at Motoworld. For Bruxelles I'll try Regina. I opt for the thinner Rain Buster (RB) because it came stuffed in a tube shape bag which is very nice a fitting in my tank bag. I went to north of Malaysia with RB. On my way back to Singapore, it rained heavily from Selangor to Johor. I rate RB very highly.

I once used a 'Kiss Racing Team' raincoat. Very good too. But the sleeve bands lost its elasticity too soon.

I personally have tried Arai and currently rs-taichi.For Arai its too thick for day usage and not that comfortable.Good in the night.Keeps you warm.

FOr Taichi now my rain pants are slipping in rain water from the center portion.

Hi Bros, I m thinking, if i buy a good quality sport brand raincoat like Timberland or Addidas or Solomon, will it do the job of the normal bikes raincoat?

I understand the normal bike raincoat come with velcro at the wrist, so water does not come in so easily.

Just to check, anybody have experience using those sport brand raincoat as ur riding gear? I also c some guys using the army raincoat, does it works?

Actually can get those in adventure sports. A more famous brand is NixWax (http://www.nikwax.com/en-us/index.php). Be warn to all as these are temporary. Nothing is permanent. Only issue is the rain pants, always leak at the mid section. So from time to time I re-coat them. As for the jacket, I am still happy with my 3-4 year purchase. No smell, keep me cool and dry. Thank you RS Taichi hahaha.

You can try RS Taichi RainBuster @Motoworld...price bout $120-$160

Should it be the DryMaster, the RainBuster is the S$70+ one rite?

any in the taichi range are decent with 12mths min lifespan.

just dont expect it to be entirely waterproof for eternity

Most people go through life following the crowd.

Others think for themselves.

They go their own way.

I'm using my Northface jacket. It's originally meant as rain gear for climbing, trekking. It works in keeping the rain out, has velcro at the sleeves, and it has other features which enables it to breathe well. One downside is that it tends to billow out in the wind, have to adjust mirrors otherwise all i see in my mirrors is my jacket. The other downside is that it's pretty drab looking, being grey/brown color. I saw TP riding in the rain the other day, they wore florescent yellow rain gear, super noticeable. Don't think I'll go out of my way to get a bike raincoat, as my current setup works fine for the rain. But may add on a high visibility vest or something.
