The ordinary rain coat & pants have a waterproof coating like a 'skin' on the inside, when this cracks or peels the water seep through. What i do is patch up the cracks , some ppl use the exp waterproof gel stuff , i just use the good ole silicon sealant LoLo_O

the one i got is Road Toad. not on their main website. i guess its a discontinued model already. but can still be found on ebay, and also the cheapest. nt sure abt the Elite Highway and others.

Try BMW Pro-Rain 3. Very high quality, easy to put on, one piece design, packs small. Not sure if Performance carries it but easily available online $100-$120 USD.

 

RS-Taichi is good but the yen is really killing prices. A couple of years back, Drymaster was going for $120 or so.

Just bought a rainmaster raincoat for motorcycle use at beach road military shop beside the renovating market at $25.

Rear vents incl!

Bought it becoz it folds compact n gd quality for its price.

Max size is XL

Not the normal PVC type.

Actually, if you know how to fold....(think of how people fold parachute)....no need to buy the $210 one....I bought the cheapest Taichi at $145, thicker but I manage to fold it and stuff into a 45cm by 15 cm custom made waterproof bag...then I stuff it inside the limited space inside my bike.

 

any good and slim/thin ones?

Actually can get those in adventure sports. A more famous brand is NixWax (http://www.nikwax.com/en-us/index.php). Be warn to all as these are temporary. Nothing is permanent. Only issue is the rain pants, always leak at the mid section. So from time to time I re-coat them. As for the jacket, I am still happy with my 3-4 year purchase. No smell, keep me cool and dry. Thank you RS Taichi hahaha.

 

 

My pant is leaking in the middle . How do u re-coat them . Is there a place to buy just the pant itself .

Got...Taichi Rain Master X...but it will costs...S$210 Motorworld.

 

I second the Taichi Rain Master X. It's uber small when packed. I was impressed. Unfortunately, with my orang utan length arms, I can't use them.

 

I went for BMW Rain Lock. thicker but very well made. I wish they had my size in the BMW's GoreTex Klima Komfort jacket. It's got a classic styling, but they've run out. That's even better.

Why rush? It's the journey, not the destination ... :shades:

My u-techn raincoat set (from the jurong west knox shop) started to leak alr. Granted it was quite affordable (i tink abt 90 per set) its 2 yrs lifespan was quite worth it. Pants start to leak and so did some parts of the sleeves.

 

So was interested in RS taichi but its wayyy too ex. So i searched online and found the Frogg Toggs brand in USA. Very popular outdoor wear. And they have a few made for motorcycling.

 

Took the plunge and ordered a set of Road Toad. Ard $90+ total with shipping.

 

Got it and amazed with the material. Its like paper! Very soft and thin! And its texture is exactly like those kitchen paper towel. Rained so i tested it.

 

Its so comfy! I bought a size too big but it doesnt flap so much and makes getting into it quickly (duuhhh!) a breeze! arrived after a heavy shower and totally dry and not feeling warm and sticky like all the other raincoats i hv tried. Also have a hood so u can wear it underneath d helmet so that water dont drip down behind.

 

Only issue i find is the collar doesnt hv a velcro so if wear open face, suspect water can drip in (i wear FF so no issue). Also, the pants have side pocket entry. Just undo a clip button and u can access ur pockets inside. Not a smart design! My pockets felt a little damp actly, but maybe could be because mine was too big la.

 

All in all, worth it so far. Now is just a matter of its lifespan. Some riders in USA hv used theirs over 3-4 years then start to leak. Highly recommended!

doing great so far. coupled wif my waterproof boots + gloves, i ride home in warmth and comfort. :) no more stuffy feeling like most raincoats. i wear wif my mesh jacket inside some more.
