I thinking of getting a second hand R1 year99 real soon:P , but I can foresee that i only able to ride it say once a month. Been asked my mechanic, he said no problem lah, as long as u have to disconnect ur battery to make sure batt not flat. But i just worry that beside battery flattening problem, are there any other problem will cause my bike cant start after one month parking?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

To me... frame sliders are a no-no for track. Serious.

 

If you fall on track and the bike goes into the gravel, that slider might just snag onto something and possibly flip the bike or do more damage.

 

I never installed sliders on my R1. And then again, I never once had an accident on the road on it... only a trackside wipeout.

 

But then again, don't take my word as gospel. My R1 was primarily a track bike. It spent 1 day out of the week on the road. I had a Phantom and Super 4 for daily use.

just 3 weeks ago, i witness the magic of sliders in PG, 50% of the slider gone, the no scratches on the fairing, no damages on the frame. sliders are protection equipment , more protection is better than no protection. maybe we can call the myth busters regarding the myth of sliders damaging the frame during a fall..

when its too long, it acts like a "hook" and pulls the frame while the bike slides

Try factory pro V-stack, you will be amazed how much low and mid power you will gain and it without tunning. It my best mod after my akra full system during my k5 gixxer days.

 

 

I almost got one for my Honda few weeks back.. I know it's a useful product. Factory Pro guarantees at least 2-6BHP easily after installation. Maybe I should look for it too...

wat to do u think abt 05 model ? so the engine sound as in weird is like ? nt smooth in the rpm ? got jerky sound , or ? wat r the other things to look out for ?? thx guys for the help

 

05 model is hot in terms of temperature

engine is quite noisy

there may be a 'tic tic' sound due to timing chain, its normal, all r1s will eventually get it. of course best to not have it.

check under the passenger seat to see if the subframe was broken before (from under the rear passenger seat, look in and see the tip of the subframe if got any cracks)

look under the exhaust see if there is any major dents on it

for me, i don't like any non-stock sprays on the bike as it most probably undergone an accident, including sprays to the rim and hugger
