Brand new Ohlin damper without brackets is selling for $600 at Tachyon Motors. If brand new 08 R1, very worth it. If 2nd hand also still worth it cos it is only a few months old and the price has dropped a few thousand dollars... :thumb:

Does the fuel light blink? I've never seen mine do it. I am riding K4. When I reach about 230 km, the fuel light just lights up but does not blink. I am quite a relaxed rider, changing gear at 4000+ rpm unless I am trying to overtake cars or getting out of tight spots. Everyday I ride on the expressway in morning traffic and evening traffic, so I think my usage is normal.

That brings me to another point. If you want a big sports bike for both commute and track, I heartily recommend 1000. Why? You need to rev up to access the power of a 600. On the street, it is not easy to always keep your revs high. On the other hand, power is accessible anytime for a 1000, in almost any gear. I mean, in 6th gear I can simply open the throttle at 4000 rpm zone and overtake with ease. Or in a sticky situation, I don't have to shift down in order to get out of the spot.

Well bro, it all depends on what you intend to use it for. A 600 more than enough if you want to use it for commuting and the occasional track days. But 1000 is also good if you intend to be a "track junkie". Most importantly, consider your budget. How much can you spare every month to maintain the bike. Sportbikes are meant to be enjoyed unless you are a "poser" aka "track virgin" like myself. :cheeky:

diff ppl will give you diff views but you will be the rider, what do you want? perhaps you should review your wants/preference so that others here will have a better idea on how to advise you. now the question is so open ended, i also scratch my head..... :)

rode a 1000 and 600 before. clear difference is the horse power and torque. ur skilled enough and feel ur able to handle a powerful bike a 1k is the right choice. low rev rpm, power surge shiok!! unlike 600 u need to drag a bit at high rpm to feel the power.

600 high rev, personally feel more stable on 600 in da corners, rd tax and insurance cheaper.

both bikes capable for "track junkies" hahahaha not 1000 only nia....and posers isnt an issue after all.

It doesn't matter what the question is, the answer is more power...

good rule to live by.

If you can afford, can ride either and still not sure which, buy the 1K you'll never regret buying the faster one.

if cannnot decide then go got a 750 lor, got power and also can corner like 600s

Hmm,I used to ride S4 before getting my current bike..

Frankly speaking,not much diff...

400 can easily 'makan' a 600...

Maybe u can taste the 750 4 a start if u dun haf da budget 4 a 1000...

thanks bros for all the different opinions. my heart is edging me to go for the 1000. haha. thanks again bros.

depends on rear shock ...there is 3types for ohlins rear, (normal/adjustable/TTX)

GRP pipes are mainly stainless steel, not worth that much

Sigh .... so bored ...

i'm offered 2.5k for ohlin damper, shock and gpr mid-pipe plus end cans. Worth it? Anyway it 2nd hand 08 r1. I think the price should be reasonable but one sad thing is the insurance! my age 21 around 2.3k+ before NCD. Dunno if i should grab the ohlin n gpr stuffs then sell?

In regards to fuel consumption, I also consistently hit 210 - 220 before the reserve light lits up. I believe it has a lot to do with your riding style. Try cruising between 80-100km/h most of the time. And always check your tyre pressure. That is what i do.

Feel free to agree or disagree.

I'm getting around 200km before the lights starts blinking..And my tank capacity is 16.5l as stated in the owner's manual..

Traffic condition, riding style, pickup style etc etc all plays a part..Technically riding on the xpressway will give u better FC..

Under-inflated tyres do give u sucky FC..

hmmm not forgetting to mention the mods that may have done to the bike...the simplest to start with is the aft mkt exhaust...it gives you a smoother ride but you hv to compromise on the FC.

oh...

mine is 180 leh... dunno why... wat oil u pump?

uncle... dun forget u got a PC III... i've compared ur mapping wif the stock ones... the input is doubled or tripled or more...

400 can easily makan 600? u sure or not? like that might as well i buy super4.

then like that y ppl big bore their block? for fun? just for that additional 20~50cc? they do make alot of diff...

1. last time when i'm riding my K2... it should be the same... the light doesn't blink... once it's lighted up... u can travel max 50km... (please dun take the risk...haha~)

2. only agree half wif u... watever u stated is true for road riding cases... but come to think about it... r u going to ride the track wif a 4000rpm? y ppl rev all the way up? it's not about the POWER... it's about the TORQUE... yes, at 6th gear 4000rpm zone u overtake me...but i might not lose u when i'm in 3 gear doing a 14000rpm on a 600... then u tell me, u also can do a 14000rpm... but that time maybe ur 1000 starts to fly already... haha~

i hope u dun get too offensive wif the comments... that's wat i think is correct... i may be wrong too... peace...
